Since the early 2000’s, there has been a strong drive toward electronic publishing, with digital versions of books, periodicals, bibliographic databases and other information in digital formats, out selling and outperforming their analog counterparts, based on research performed by Milena Milanova of Sofia University. The expiring business model publishers use, which is based on manufacturing processes, sales channel, and business practices, is rapidly changing due to the introduction of the digital revolution. This revolution has created new media technologies that make it easier to access previously printed material,now assessed electronically. The driving force behind this revolution, is the increase in use by consumers of medium used to access this information, such as e-readers, tablets, computers, cell phones, and cloud computing. With the increase use of electronic publications, there is an increased need for electronic publication specialists to create these publications, this is a new and evolving career comes with new job responsibilities, qualifications and earning potential.

Electronic publishing specialists work with a diverse group of professionals including printing specialists, analysts, graphic designers, web developers, multimedia specialists, computing support specialists, and photographers. However the electronic publishing specialists are ultimately responsible for working with this group to manage the conversion of content, perform quality assurance checks, code new copy, and manipulate the code required to create digital publications. Additionally, they are responsible for scheduling and tracking digital publications, following and maintaining workflow and process documentation, and archiving projects....
