When children or teens grow up they wonder “What do I want to be when I’m older”? Most teens or children won’t know what they want to do until they are in high school. Sometimes it might even take longer than that. Most high school students will find hidden talents that they didn’t know about themselves which could cause them to do the thing they like to do. Some may like to draw and be good at that, and others that aren’t good at drawing pictures might be good at sports. After they get out of high school or months before they do the teens might know what they want to do. Then they have to get some thought about what college to go to. Some graduates won’t know if they want to go to college until they are an adult and decided to be a teacher or something that interests you. While I already know what I want to do which is to become a computer hardware engineer and go to Purdue which is close to Chicago. I want to be a computer hardware engineer because I’m good with computers and technology. Also I want to do both of them because I like to work with computers and in the future the technology for computers will sky rocket. Most people won’t work with their friends which many people want to do. Some want their friends to go to the same college as them so they wouldn’t be alone. Because many wouldn’t work with their friends; therefore, most of the people that work at their job will have to make new friends.
Computer engineering is a job that is constantly leading to the development of new technology which is alway changing as the years go. by (“Electrical” para. 1). Computer hardware engineers much research, design, develop, and test computer systems (“Computer”... U.S. para. 1). Also they could improve processors, circuit boards, me...

... have activities like sports to help you get into colleges. If you would do other activities like choir or band for all 4 years in high school you can get scholarships that help pay for you going to colleges. Also you could get a free ride for colleges if you had a sports scholarship.

In the passage,” Go to College” by Arthur Digby Sellers, Sellers recommend good points that parents say to persuade their teens who do not wish to attend college. Teens who confront their parents on this issues, believe that they would be better off if they did not attend college but instead, started to work immediately or travel the world believing that they have a chance of becoming the next Bill Gates or Magellan. The recommended answers that Seller suggest parents should give to their teens to the same answers that he gave to his, and convinced them to attend college.
Can you name four or five careers you can realistically aspire to?”(Schlack 11), Then follows with what one could do with their response. “For those who answer, ‘Yes, I know my strengths and I have a pretty good idea where I want to go in life and I do need college to get there,’ college is the right choice. If the answer is, ‘ I’m not really sure what my strengths are or where I want to go in life,’ then deferring college is the better choice.”(Schlack 12), In conclusion Schlacks main claim is that if a student doesn't know what they want to do in life then college is not the right choice. In addition Schlack does introduce more claims such as the way he ends the writing, “Too many students believe this. School leaders can get out in front and help them see there are many paths to a successful life and college is only one of them.” (Schlack 17), Schlack has valid and explained claims throughout the article, that can alter the reader's position on the
Society pushes today's youth towards higher education. The goal of grade school is to prepare the students for middle school. The goal of middle school is to prepare the students for high school. And finally the goal of high school is to prepare the students for college. The entire structure of education is to prepare youth for the next level of education. The problem with this system is that not all students are college material, as seen in the essay The Case Against College by Caroline Bird.
The main reason why people go to college is not because they want to but because they have to. Most high school seniors are pressured by their guidance counselors and parents to go to college because it is "the right thing to do." In the essay that Caroline Bird wrote "College is a Waste of Time and Money", she states that students go to college because " . . . Mother wanted them to go, or some other reason entirely irrelevant to the course of studies for which college is supposedly organized." (481) The student may have different ideas about what he or she wants to do in life, but because they think that these "mentors" know what is best for them, they probably end up doing something they do not want to do, resulting in being miserable and resentful.
Every year, thousands and thousands of students graduate from high school ready to embark one of life’s greatest adventures. Many students feel as if high school was tough and an awkward time for them. Some will encounter times when bullies are rude and nasty to them. Others will not have to deal with any negativity and have a great experience, but will not want to go back. After high school life goes on, many students choose different paths other than to continue their education but most of the students that graduate from high school are given the opportunity to attend colleges and universities all around the nation and obtain an education. Although not all students will get to fulfill this opportunity due to different circumstances, such as the expense or some of them may already have a family to take care of and have to go straight to work after graduation. For those students that do have the opportunity and are able to take it, it’s recommended they do. Once a higher education level is achieved, no one can take it away from them. It makes the chances of getting a job easier and also get a higher pay. An education should never be taken for granted because not everyone gets to have one, setting a goal and staying focused on
These eighteen year olds who had virtually no say in what they wanted to study in high school are now ask “ what is your major?” or better yet “what do you want to do for the rest of your life?” This is a big question, and most have no idea what they want to do. So, in a state of confusion they instinctively choose to study in a field that will benefit them economically when they graduate. Is this what a higher education means, to go through college fixed on the money? Or, is there a deeper meaning to it all, if so how can it be obtained? These are the sort of questions that need to be asked when considering going to college.
College is an important decision to parents, but teenagers are more focused on social lives, rather than their careers. It is a difficult task to understand what their major should be, but more so where they are going to go to study that major. High school influence is the main factor which students base their college choice on, but the activities students choose in school effect where they go more than their out of school activities.
Students differ in shape, size, color, and age. From kindergarten to college, many students are expected to follow a linear educational path regardless of life obstacles and other hindrances. Unfortunately, judgmental and oppressive eyes often intercept any deviation from this path. Lailah Gifty Akita once said, “You are never old to begin self-seeking.” A college education immediately after high school is not the correct path for everyone, as adult students have taken a rise in the collegiate atmosphere. This increase has intrinsically changed career options locally and globally.
Whether or not to attend College after graduating High School is an important decision in a young person’s life. There are a number of factors to consider such as funds, grades, and other social issues that must be considered. The government offers different types of funding for students like Pell grants and student loans. Therefore, everyone is able to attend some college, even if it is just the local Community College in the area. Attending College is the supreme option for most High School graduates, which will enable them to earn their maximum potential income, while also preparing them to make well informed decisions throughout their lifespan. College can also help to improve a person’s social skills and provides a multitude
You go three years of high school preparing for college and at the same time having fun. Until you are in your senior year of high school that’s when you realize and start asking your self what college do I want to go to? Or what college career I want to pursue? That’s when you notice you have but so little time to answer these questions. Me I’m in my last year of high school and I though I already knew what career I wanted to pursue, but its now that I notice that not even I know what I’m going to do with my life? All I’m sure of its that I’m going to graduate out of high school with a diploma and that I’m going to college. But what happens after that? What major did I study? Or where did I go to accomplish my goal?
Whether that be our parents wanting his or her child to become a doctor because it’s a good paying job or the influences around us telling us to be an engineer or lawyer because they’re the jobs that make the most money. Even though those jobs are well payed, that doesn’t mean people will actually enjoy doing it. A recent survey suggests that when people are asked “What they plan on being when they're older”, they say either an engineer, lawyer or doctor but then they were asked “What would you be if you could choose any job in the world” and most of the people that were surveyed changed their mind and they said something different. The bottom line is to follow your dreams, and don’t let anything change that. If you let society choose your course, then chances are that you won’t be doing something that you’ll enjoy.

Douglas Engelbart, who was an electrical engineer and former naval radar technician, saw computers as more than number crunchers. “He knew from his days as a radar technician that screens could be used to display digital data, and therefore assumed it was possible to use a screen to display output from a computer (Mitchell).” It was a good ten years before Engelbart had the resources to build the devices that he had been thinking of for so long. Then invention that he knew would change the way computer w...
Ever since I built my first computer early in 2012, I have had an avid interest in computing and technology. From hardware to software, I enjoy it all. Almost every device has some type of computer in it. Whether it is a cell phone, a calculator, or a vending machine. Even things that we take for granted most cars since the 1980’s have a computer in it or a pacemaker. All of the advancements in computers and technology have led up to the 21st century in which “the greatest advances in computer technology will occur…” Mainly in areas such as “hardware, software, communications and networks, mobile and wireless connectivity, and robotics.”
