I want to be a secondary social studies teacher. Two people really had an influence on this decision. The first would be my history teacher Mr. Nicol because he has shown me that you can be a Christian and a teacher if you balance them out right. My friend Amanda was the other influence because we were talking about what I’m passionate about which was history. She then suggested teaching it and I loved the idea because I knew I’d enjoy it. This includes teaching students the required information by giving them the environment and tools they need to acquire it. If this doesn’t work out then my Plan B would be a preschool/kindergarten teacher because I’d still be involved with kids and teaching.
In order to be a secondary social studies teacher there are a few requirements that need to be met. It varies according to state but all teachers need a bachelor’s degree. Also to be a teacher I need to complete a four year college with a major in social studies. A completed and approved teacher education program with written a number of subject and education credits and a supervised practiced teaching is required too. My high school GPA in high school needs to be at least a 3.5.
I’m taken classes now that fit this career. Teacher Academy is one of them because it deals with information to be a successful teacher and AP European History which is a higher level of history which is what I want to major in. The only extra curricular activity I’m involved with is my church youth group. I thoroughly enjoy going to this every Wednesday and Sunday. There are several types of volunteer work that I’m doing including Circle of Friends here at the High School, helping out with elementary activities and my church with the younger kids. ...

My first career choice is a secondary social studies teacher. I’m passionate about helping people and about history and therefore I feel this career would best fit me. The salary isn’t bad and I know my job is always going to be needed because each day is apart of history. Although there are some negatives of this career the positives take those away. However if I fail to pursue this career for some reason I will resort to being a preschool/kindergarten teacher. New generations are born each day and most children will be put into early schooling even if they don’t make it through to graduation. It will still include helping others too which is a big plus. Either way I will be happy with the career because it involves children, helping others, and making a difference in someone’s life.
I contemplated attending graduate school for School Psychology or Educational Administration after completing my undergraduate degree, but I feel that classroom teaching experience will be absolutely vital for success in any career in education. I believe that classroom experience will provide me the exposure and knowledge that will allow me to not only become a professional and successful teacher, but also help to solidify the path I should take for my own education. As a person who enjoys continually learning and growing, I can see myself using the understanding I gained from working in the classroom to shape my future educational goals. I am open and excited for any possibility that opens up as I continue to explore this
Since I graduated high school in 2009, I immediately went to El Camino Community College and earned my Associates Degree. Once entering California State University Dominguez Hills in 2013, I obtained a full time nanny position to an amazing family of two children, which allows me to focus on my schooling while still being able to work. From 2012 to 2016, I was volunteering in the Long Beach Unified School District as a VIP to get a feel for the classroom and to know what to expect when I become a teacher. In September 2016, I became a LBUSD Substitute Teacher and I have been enjoying it ever since because it has given me the opportunity to become a classroom teacher. Currently, I am in the last phase of the teaching credential program at Dominguez
Overall, I would love to become an elementary teacher. In fact, I wouldn't mind being a middle school or high school teacher either as long as I get to help my future students become better people, and more importantly, teach them new things. I think I have a fun personality and all of the right qualifications to become a teacher. I plan to attend a four year university when I am done with high school and get my bachelor’s degree in art education (K-12). Then hopefully, after I get a job, I will work towards my master’s degree. Being a teacher is truly what I want to do for the rest of my life.
I chose to research the career high school history teaching because I have a love for
To become a teacher, a person must be substantially educated. In most cases, a Bachelor’s degree is required for the teacher to be employed. The Bachelor’s degree is in the field they plan to teach with a specialty in Secondary Education. Although only a bachelor’s degree is required, a Master in their field or a Doctorate in their field is more employable (High School Teachers). As well as a degree, a teacher
I was never going to be a teacher. My parents would tell you otherwise. As a child, I would spend my time playing school. I would write on my chalk board, create worksheets and homework assignments and take attendance. I would make my bedroom a replica of my safe haven. I guess I was destined to find my way into a classroom. I had also always loved to write, but I wanted to find a way to make money easily in the field so I thought journalism was the way to go. After the first semester of hardcore journalism classes, I concluded that the fast pace stressed me out too much. I worked with a career counselor to narrow down alternate fields of interest and all signs pointed to education. I took a generic introduction to education course and knew immediately that I had really come home in all senses of the
When planning for my future, I first had to look at what profession I wanted to go into. I have had great teachers in my life that have inspired me and due to this I have decided I too would like to teach. I am interested in teaching History and Industrial Technology. To pursue this career, I will need to go to college and graduate with a teaching degree.
Through my own experiences, and as enforced by others' opinions in the profession, I have found that teaching is one of the most rewarding careers. Not only are you placed in the position of instructing and guiding children and young adults through the life long learning process, but you are able to give back to the schools and communities which have supported your early education and experiences that opened you up to a bright future. In becoming an educator, I hope to someday share the knowledge and lend the helping, supportive hand that I was once given, allowing students to formulate their own perspectives of the multicultural society and world around them. Teaching is a career I have been interested in pursuing throughout high school, and as my experiences and study in the field expands, I feel that my desire to teach will grow stronger and develop more soundly.
All states require teachers in public schools to be licensed or certified(BLS.gov,Web). Those who teach in private schools are generally not required to be licensed. High school teachers typically are awarded a secondary or high school certification(BLS.gov,Web). This allows them to teach the 7-12th grade. Requirements for certification will change by what state you are in. However, all states require that teachers have at least a bachelor’s degree. States require completing a teacher preparation program and supervised experience in teaching, typically gained through student teaching(BLS.gov). States usually require candidates to pass a teaching certification test, on top of test that shows their knowledge in the subject they will teach later
A teacher is not what I have always wanted to be. As a matter of fact, it wasn't until I had taken several of my general studies classes that I made a commitment to teach. Having played football through middle school and high school, I just assumed that whatever I did would have to be related to football. It was, however, during a time of reflection that I thought about a former football coach and the rapport that he had with me and other players. He wanted to bring out the best in each of us. It was then that I realized that I wanted to do the same.
Anyone interested in becoming a teacher? Please follow these basic procedures. First, you must go to the school board and picked up the teacher packet. It has to be filled out completely and turned in along with three references letters and all college transcripts. Secondly, you must set up an interview with a personnel person who will go over your qualifications and ask what grade or level you want to teach. Third, you must then set up an interview with the Personnel Director for elementary, middle, or high school. Fourth, you will receive a call to interview with the Principals at the schools that have openings for you. Fifth, you must wait until a principal calls and says that you have a position with them.
The first main reason that I have chosen teaching as a profession is because I believe that it’s continuous rewards will help me to lead a happy and fulfilled life. For example, teaching young children is one of the few jobs in which you can give and receive hugs on a daily basis. Children have an innocence and a passion for knowledge that I find amazing and I do not feel complete unless I am around them. Teaching will help provide this fulfillment for me every day. Also, teaching is a job in which it is ok, and even encouraged, to laugh each and every day. I feel that this is important for a person’s well-being and I think that it helps to keep people young and alive. I feel that in many other professions the day-to-day routine would become monotonous and boring, and I do not think that I would live a truly happy and fulfilled life unless I could be around children. I feel that a classroom provides many unique and dynamic opportunities every single day and I find that very appealing. Also, I am a very relationship-oriented person and I feel that I will enjoy building unique relationships with each child. I plan on knowing every child as thoroughly as possible because I feel that this will help me to be better at my job.
There have been many factors that have inspired me to this career choice. Watching my teachers, both past and present, has inspired me to become a teacher. I have a genuine interest in lifelong learning and as such I have the desire to not only instil knowledge and values to others, but also encourage them to share my passion for learning. Social Justice and leadership roles at school, along with my extra-curricular involvement with Cowra Youth Council, have highlighted my ability to work with and for the benefit of young people. In essence I know that my abilities and aspirations will make me a good teacher.
When I think of becoming a teacher I would like to imagine or hope that I would be “turning the key” for a student of mine to become something great. I have been soul searching for many years now to have a better understanding of what I am suppose to do in my life. I have worked in so many jobs in so many areas but nothing was fulfilling my life with any amount of meaning. I found myself not wanting to go back the next day or wishing I were somewhere else. Well I guess everyone does that is what I would tell myself.
Future teachers will all have to reach a certain level of education and certification. Educational requirements can vary greatly depending on the state, but all states require completion of an approved teacher training program and a bachelor’s degree. Many states may require a minimal GPA and additional technology training including, a set number of education and subject credits. A small number of sates necessitate a master’s degree taking up to two years more of schooling than a bachelor’s degree. Other requirements could be student teaching which a lot of colleges offer. Usually for a semester student teachers will work beside an experienced teacher by observing and helping children in ...
