Nursing has been a quality profession for millions, perhaps billions, of years. Having the knowledge of a nurse is basically having a super power. Nursing is a career that someone must chose because they truly love it. Nursing is the defense, advancement, and optimization of health and abilities. Prevention of illness, facilitation of healing, diagnosis and treatment for individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations is everything nurses stand for. Nurses in the end do the same job of caring for everyone, but there are different categories for this profession.
A career in nursing is a devotion to assisting those people who are ill and need to be taken care of. To become a nurse one must become qualified in health sciences and be able to have the patience to deal with all type of people. Nurses looks closely at the patience and keep an eye on them to insure that all of them are doing fine and receiving the best care that the nurses could possibly give them. Wanting to become a nurse one must have the strength, courage, dedication, motivation, and lots of hard work.
Sacrificing to help others is a calling. It is enjoyable and makes one improve their skills because it is a rotational job. For instance, if you are working on the pediatric section today, then tomorrow can be on the emergency side. It is all about being passionate about being a nurse practitioner. Additionally, through the research that one does, one is able to grow. Financially, there is also growth considering the amount of time spent in school at least with the salary earned it is well compensated. There are positives and negatives in this career. One of the positive is able to change the life of another person through the care you give and touch the life of that person. Secondly, with the schedule given in the health sector, one can earn a living because you can afford to work in more than one shift. Another one is you can practice your nursing in different sections not necessarily one area. The negative thing about working as a nurse practitioner is competition in the market. The market is full of this profession and for one to secure a job you must really work hard in school. Next negativity is residency; this whereby for the students they rely on clinical programs for placements and there is no remuneration and getting the required experience can be difficult.
Once someone figures out that helping others is their end goal, the choice of where in the vast galaxy called medicine that one wants to stumble into. It is a must for someone to have a genuine pull towards helping others no matter what medical issue a patient may have. Nursing allows for one on one patient interaction, more than a doctor would have. While a doctor can save a life by performing surgery, a nurse can and often has to, make life or death decisions in sundry situations. Becoming a nurse requires the love of school, primarily because a majority of the first few years after making this career choice is spent there.
In 1965 Dr. Loretta Ford and Dr. Henry Silver developed the first Nurse Practitioner (NP) program at the university of Colorado (Kurtz and Reyes, pg. 6). In 1967, the Boston College initiated one of the first master’s degree programs for NPs (Kurtz and Reyes, pg. 6). They generally focus on health promotion, health education, and the foundations of health care. The conception of nurse practitioner careers created solutions to physician shortages, created nursing based solutions, and most importantly helped close the gap found in health care services. A nurse practitioner career, no matter the specialty, have basic training on how to provide care for clients and have to have a certain amount of math and/or science to be able to be knowledgeable enough about the medicine and treatment involved and how it will affect the patient.

There are about 1,534,400 jobs and the rate is expected to grow at 21% by the time it is 2022, that is so much faster than the regular for all jobs. A CNA will always be needed and the demand will increase for patient care. A Certified Nursing Assistant is one of the best paying in the health care field. It ranks the head of all positions. A lot of nursing homes depend on government financing, which gives a high demand for this position. Medicare and Medicaid taking from the program can affect a person in paying the nursing home.
The career that I want to successfully accomplish is to become a maternal/child health and Neonatal Nurse. The colleges that I am looking at are Northwest Community College that will eventually be the Univerity of Wyoming. I do want to go to a community college before going to a University. I order to become a maternal child nurse, I have to get my degree in nursing first. I want to take online classes while I am working at a hospital/nursing home. Going to Northwestern College, I would have to take medical terminology and nurse assistant classes to proceed in what I am trying to accomplish. In the class, Medical Terminology, you learn the knowledge of vocabulary of all the medical words and terms. In the Nurse Assistant class, you learn the skill in being a nurse.
Every one main goal is to become successful with a career in a life my main career is becoming an NA and Orderlies an NA stands for Nursing Assistants! There are many more jobs as a Nursing Assistants then to sit down and type on the computer. Our main duties are that we give basic care and help with activities of daily living. With all that being said we Clean and bathe patients, Help them use the Toilet, Record their health conditions, and Serve meals, and feed them. There are some Nursing Assistants who are able to give out medication if we reached the level in their care plan. Our work schedules are mainly FullTime because we offer for nursing homes and hospitals for care.
I became a nurse’s assistant on July 5, 2005. Since then I worked at quite I few nursing home facility in my ten years of being a nurse’s assistant, some being the worst, where you always worked short staff where you had to rust to get the work done and couldn’t get the time that you needed off. You would work so hard nine days a week eight hours a day for a low pay rate. I started to loss my compassion for this field. Now that I’m working for virtua health care system; one of the best health care facility in south jersey that has all changed. I like my job for the reasons: they are very flexible with my schedule, they pay well, and most of all it has renewed my compassion and desire to work in the field of helping
Freshman as a nursing assistant in one nursing home in Washington dc was a tremendous experience for me and I have learned a lot, about elderly and many types of old ages sickness. Therefore I have a wonderful experience and it was a loving place, where you share loves, affection to the elderly that increases their desire to live each and every day.
