Many find it obvious that canned fruits are less beneficial to your health. This is not the only way that canned fruits are at a disadvantage. Canned fruits are also less satisfying to the eye and to the tongue. The taste and texture of my favorite fruit, pineapple is completely altered when put into a can. Added preservatives strip away the fruits true state and replace it with an unhealthy, hardened, fake tasting pineapple you find yourself biting out of the can. The first act of canning started in the 1800s when a “French inventor named Nicolas Appert was placing food in glass jars and heating them.” He heated these jars in order to pasteurize the food “before anyone anyone knew...what why pasteurization was”(Canned 1800s). Vitamins and minerals obtained by eating these fruits are a necessity for maintaining a healthy growing body. Ingesting fresh fruits boost your immune system. Fruits boost your energy, so grab a fresh apple or banana before you resort to something out of a can. Fruits supply your body with what it needs in order to prevent sickness
