Can poverty be eradicated?

Absolute and relative poverty
Poverty is the lack of money to the point that the individual cannot afford their basic needs. There are two types of poverty, absolute and relative. Absolute poverty is the lack of basic needs for a long period of time that puts your life in danger, which opposes with relative poverty, which covers the vital and biological needs like food, clean water, and basic housing (poverties.org, 2011) .
My opinion on this matter
In my opinion, I think poverty cannot be eradicated because forty percent of the world’s population is at poverty level, which means 2.8 billion people. In addition, it is difficult to eradicate poverty since there are many corrupt officials when the governments …show more content…

First of all, poverty can be eradicated through education because education may change the way people think and make different decisions. By education, people can also learn new skills and knowledge which may help them to get a better job which will enable them to improve their living standards (unesco.org, 2001) . Second of all, better quality of health care services can decrease the death rate of a country. For example, the result shows that in the United States there are around 610,000 people’s death caused by heart disease in each year which means more than 1600 people died in one day so it is important for a county if they can provide better health care (cdc.gov, 2015) . Thirdly, clean water and sanitation are quite important for a country because in a bad environment there are more mosquitoes that means higher risk of getting diseases such as Malaria (medicalnewstody.com, 2016) as well as Diarrhoea which usually happens in the places where there is no clean water since unclean water might include viruses and bacteria (unicef.org, 2013) …show more content…

Firstly, we can reduce poverty by supporting education for all, as you know education is one of the strongest predictors of income potential so we can send volunteers(who have been educated) to the places where there is need for education. Secondly, people in every country should be paid fairly. Most companies provide very low wages to weak labours and purchase goods and services in weak countries at low prices. Thirdly, people can send resources to the poor countries such as clothes and book. The things that you may not use again you could provide to the people who need it, especially to the ones who cannot cover their basic needs (wikihow.com) .
