Can Divorce in GCC be reduced? On 25 May 1981, six Arab nations had formed a union called Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). These nations are Oman, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait. They are all found "in the southwestern district of the Asian mainland" (Sheikh Maktoum , 2012, para.1). These nations formed this union on the grounds that they impart comparable nearness, guideline their nations utilizing the Islamic framework, have the same destinations and have comparative society with unnoticed distinctions in every nation's society. These nations shaped a union to have simple exchange and an effective protection framework (Global Security, n.d.). The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar have 60% of the planet's reservation of oil. For these countries, half of their income principally is based upon oil. Oil was first found in a large portion of the GCC nations in the 1930's by the British colonies who used to conquer over the greater part of the GCC nations. Anyhow, the GCC countries did not begin to advance and benefit from their oil until the end of the World of War II (Mongaby, n.d.). Before the introduction of oil the GCC’s economy was based mainly upon pearl fishing. (Sheikh Maktoum, 2012). After the introduction of oil the country started to developed. With this transformation, the families’ structure started to change and the expectation from a husband and a wife started to change and the education levels ad increased, media and technology advanced and people from different cultures are introduced to that region. Hence, because of these changes the divorce rate has spiked and increased tremendously in GCC countries in the past decade.
