There he assumed the position of back-up quarterback to Heisman trophy winner Tim Tebow. He ran into trouble in 2008 when he was arrested for stealing a laptop from another student. The team suspended Newton following the arrest. All of the charges were eventually dropped after he completed a court approved pre-trial diversion program. A few years after his arrest he made a statement saying, "I believe that a person should not be thought of as a bad person because of some senseless mistake that they made. I think every person should have a second chance. If they blow that second chance, so be it for them." In one instance Newton heard that a ten-year-old with cancer was having a Halloween party. So, Newton decided to rent an ice cream truck and drove it to the party. Elijah Hughes had a night that he would never forget. About the surprise he said, “I didn’t believe it at first, I thought I was dreaming. It means a lot that he would come out to see me at my party.” This is just one example of the many wishes that Newton has granted. Newton says, “These kids are my inspiration, its why I do what I do. Brett Favre grew up idolizing a pair of Southern quarterbacks, the Saints' Archie Manning and the Cowboys' Staubach. He grew up in Kiln, Mississippi and went to high school in there. His high school, Hancock North Central, honored him this past May by re-naming the field, 'Brett Favre Field,' and unveiling a life-sized statue of the quarterback at the stadium's entrance. The school previously had retired his jersey, Number 10, in 1993. He stayed in the south to go to college where he went to Southern Miss. He became the starter at Southern Miss in his third game of his freshman season. Favre majored in special education. He led his Southern Mississippi team to 29 victories, including two bowl victories, during his four varsity seasons, 1987-90, and climaxed his collegiate career by earning a MVP award in the East-West Shrine game featuring the nation's best seniors. Favre set school records for passing yards (8,193), pass attempts (1,234), completions (656), completion percentage (53.2), touchdowns (55), and with only 35 interceptions. His production included five 300-yard passing games and five 3-TD performances, while his 7,695 regular-season passing yards ranked him among the top 30 of all-time NCAA passers. His 1.57 interception ratio in 1988 was the lowest among the 50 top-ranked passers in the nation, and his 2.9 interception rate for his four-year career also ranks as one of the best in NCAA history. Also he was the MVP of the All-American Bowl at the conclusion of his senior year. All those records and stats and that was only in college!!!

In order to be diplomatic I will only focus my attention on the skills or qualities that each person can offer. What I immediately note about Mr. Newton is that he is young, healthy and has medical knowledge that under the current circumstances will be useful to the group and possibly other survivors that they may e...
Isaac Newton had a tragic and unfortunate life ever since he was born. Three months prior to Newton’s birth, his father died. Then, when Newton was three years old, his mother left him with her parents in order to remarry to a wealthy rector, named Barnabas Smith. A few years later, his mother returned with three more children, and brought Newton back home to live with her and their new family. Newton went to school for next next couple years, until age fourteen, when he was told to drop out of school to assist his mother around the house and on the farm. It turned out Newton was not of any help around the house nor farm, because he was constantly busy reading. His mother then advised him to return to school (“Isaac Newton;” Gleick). After said events, his mother's second husband, Barnabas Smith dies as well. His mother then fled again, completely neglecting Newton's parental needs. Combination of all these events caused Newton to be on a constant emotional and physical edge, often crying and engaging in disputes and fights in school (“Sir Isaac Newton;” Hatch).
The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the most involved teams with Charity. For the past 18 years the Philadelphia Eagles have been building one playground each year throughout the city of Philadelphia for the kids.("Community") Nice playgrounds at schools help increase the amount of kids attending school. These playgrounds being built are also decreasing the amount of injuries that occur and the violence. They reduce injuries and violence because it gives them something fun to rely on to do every day. One of the best things about them is that they help build the community up and engage everyone in the community. "The feeling of looking in the kids' eyes when you are walking off the bus, the excitement they have that the Eagles are in their neighborhood, in their place, you can sort of see the importance they now feel about themselves and the confidence they have," said Eagles Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Lurie.”(NJ.com) The Eagles Youth Partnership gets money in many different ways. One of those ways is having an open training camp at their stadium. They have yard sales during those open training camp. Some of the things they sold were Eagles jerseys, footballs, and equipment. The Eagles EYP raised 50,000 dollars from the used equipment sale and the first day of the training camp.(NJ.com) All of that money raised could be used to buy more than 12,511 books for the children of

Given his large platform as a NBA superstar, Jordan gave back to his community and most specifically children. Throughout the course of Michael Jordan’s outstanding career, he made a profound impact on the education of children. During Michael Jordan’s final basketball game as a member of the Washington Wizards, Jordan was given a plaque as a part of his ceremonial goodbye ceremony as a result of his large impact on the education of children by donating computers and money to many local schools. In addition to his large donations, Jordan also has led many campaigns to urge and motivate children to try their best and give their all in school. Why Athletes are Good Role Models Ever since the ancient years, we have admired athletes and the hard work. that they do to achieve their goal of winning. We idolize them and wish we were more like them. What happens though when the realization sinks in that they are human too and that some of them do get greedy and selfish?
Athlets have been lookd up to as role models for as long as sports have exsted. There is just something attractive about the thought of being in good physical condition and being talented in sports. But, are athlets the kind of people that children should be looking up to for direction and guidance? Many children often look up to the professional athletes as role models. In fact, in 1995 Sports Illustrated for Kids did a survey for kids who were ages 7 through 12 about who their role model was. The majority of the kids answered that a professional athlete was who they most looked up to. Only four percent of the children answered that their role model was one of thir parents. Because of today?s media, athletes are constantly in the public eye. Everything they do on and off of the playing field. Some professional athletes speak a positive message through their fame by demonstrating constructive ideas such as teamwork and commitment while they are on the field. Even off of the playing field some athletes set a good example by visiting children in schools, going to hospitals, or even setting up foundations and organizations to help the ill and less fortunate people. However, other athletes are not as considerate to the fact that someone may be looking up to them, some athletes are not concerned about anything other than the sport they are getting paid to play and themselves. These athletes are the ones that propose questions over whether athletes should be considered role models or not. A role model can be defined as a person whose behavior, example or success is or can be emulated by others, especially young people. Who would want their child looking up to someone who has been convicted of domestic violence or has a drug addiction? It is an argument of opinion that cannot be settled.
When people ask what my favorite sport is, I quickly reply soccer. I never really gave much thought to who my favorite soccer player is until I saw Lionel Messi for the first time. I saw him play for Argentina and he showed me how great soccer really is. He has a great style of both teamwork and individual skill. The ability he has to keep control of the ball is what made me interested in soccer. Without him, who knows if I would even begin to enjoy soccer. He shows both individual skill and the importance of teamwork. He does not only score a ton of goals, but also gives many assists. Lionel Messi, in my opinion, is one of the greatest soccer players in history. Lionel Messi is most definitely one of my role models. Messi doesn’t only teach me how to improve on individual skill but also can show me the importance of not showing off. The soccer skill that this man has is unbelievable. Lionel Messi is a great role model.
