Wade Graham believes that water should be priced higher; that way people aren’t wasting water. Water is a limited resource that should never be wasted, and is probably California’s most valuable resource. Unfortunately, many people waste water; instead of conserve water especially when we live in the state of California where we are subject to having many droughts. Wade Graham tells his readers how farmers receive subsidies for water; yet, farmers don’t update their ways of how they water their crops. By farmers not using efficient ways to water their crops they are wasting tons of our natural resource water.
Californians need to discover a means to change the current methods, equipment and engineering science to better conserve water and if possible to solve the issue of the water shortage. The evidence of the drought is all over the place, affecting large areas of society. Streams, rivers, ponds and lakes are drying up. Animals are dying of thirst and starvation rendering them a burden to farmers. According to the New York Times, “the sense of dread is building among farmers, many whom have already let fields go unplanted.
They cause water and food shortages that have negative effects on the population. Droughts can last for a few months or even years and are known as the ‘creeping’ hazard because they develop slowly and have a prolonged existence. Droughts are very difficult to predict, but researchers are working on advanced warning systems and trying to find a way to predict the lifespan of each drought. The three main hazards of a drought are communicable diseases, famine, and death. Communicable diseases are caused by the lack of water supply, sanitation, malnutrition, displacement, and the hig... ... middle of paper ... ...isconsin Board of Regents, 1986.
No rain in the central valley can cause many devastating issues to occur quickly. Recently in the year of 2013 California received less rainfall than years before. The small amount of water the central valley is receiving is harming not only to the land but humans and animals as well. It’s destroying the habitats of animals with forest fires caused from the dry spells occurring. The central valley is going through a drought, so much that around this time of year the central valley usually accumulates enough rain for the necessities in the valley, agriculture for example.
In the last several years, California has been experiencing a very serious drought, of which is said to be the worst drought since record keeping has begun. This drought has sparked a lot of conflict between different groups in need of water and now politics are trying to organize where all the water should go. The water that California gets each year is split up into between three main areas: human needs, agriculture, and supporting the environment. The environment usually gets the least amount of water out of three because the main concern is supporting human right to water and providing food for people. These last years, the horrible lack of rainfall and snowpack have changed the way that water is valued drastically because of the growing demand from both urban areas and agriculture and the lack of it.

Some of the main problems that led to the water crisis in California would be high temperatures in the winter, California’s agriculture, California’s Budget to fix the problem, and how it affected people’s everyday routine. The Water Crisis in California has been a major problem in the United States. California has a water shortage in their state. Residents in California didn’t conserve water properly. It is known that India is one of the countries which face water scarcity so this essay will consider the possible ways of solutions of water shortage in India. Global warming is one of the main causes, which leads to the lack of water and drought. A drought-like condition exists in most of India’s part. Government of India states that 68% of the country is disposed to the drought, which (consequences are) leads to massive migration of people to more favorable places, famine, conflicts among inhabitants. India is known in the world as one of the biggest producers of water-intensive crops such as rice, sugarcane and wheat.
This natural disaster is called a drought. Drought, in my opinion, is the worst natural disaster of all. It not only affects us with a dry weather and uncomfortable heat waves, it also affects agriculture, and even drastically change the way we live about (Eliasson, 2011). That is why I, as a fellow inhabitant of Earth, urge people today to conserve water to combat the evils of drought. We, as people, must think of not only how this will affect us.
With so many people moving into the state the supply and demand of the water may not meet the needs of our state. California has an ever-changing water variable. Our climate is a feast-or-famine, where it is possible to have both flooding and drought in the same year. In the fall of 2006, at the beginning of this drought California is in, there was less precipitation and runoff than is normal. Water from precipitation flows into the state’s rivers and reservoirs, this is known as the developed supply.
