Caesar: Delicious Salad and Depravèd Downfall

In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by Shakespeare, a group of conspirators assassinates Julius Caesar, creating chaos in Rome and ultimately causing the downfall of the Republic. In the play, the character of Julius Caesar is the main tragic hero. A tragic hero is a character in high standing in society who causes his or her own downfall because of a serious character flaw(s). In the play, Caesar is portrayed as arrogant and prideful, which ultimately leads to his downfall and death at the hands of men who were once his allies. Because of this, he is unworthy of the reader’s sympathy, but a strong example of a tragic hero.

In this play, Julius Caesar is portrayed as very arrogant and prideful. “Danger knows full well that Caesar is more dangerous than he,” (926) showing his true and deep-seated arrogance.
