India is one of the fastest growing economies of the world. Its cities and other infrastructural needs are increasing day-by-day manifold. It is imperative to keep tabs on its fast pace well and meet all such developmental demands.
CPWD, as a premier government body, which came into being during the British colonial rule, and now working under the aegis of the Urban Development Ministry, Government of India, after independence, has immense responsibility to carry on, on its shoulder.
Since the last more than fifteen decades, it has earned a good name as a responsible and innovative organization, where its every work gets completed with utmost care and precision.
There is a very long list of achievement in its feather of cap. Right from building the residential blocks to various types of offices, auditoriums, highways, bridges, Jetties, and sports facilities, it has done a lot.
This organization is known for its better planning, best execution and overall excellence for all its projects which it undertakes and executes. It has its own definite goal to reach and its own benchmark to achieve. Every year, a new comprehensive planning goes and a new goal sets in when a new project starts.
Every work which comes under its jurisdiction, it goes through various stages of planning, designing, budgeting, and proper implementation.
It is its reputation as a major developmental body; it has attracted the best clienteles both from the various government departments, semi governmental bodies to private sector organizations. Many major works it has carried out on public private partnership.
It has made its objective clearly and vividly defined to construct at least three star rated green and barrier free buildings for all...

CPWD also publishes books, manuals and guide books time to time to help the large section of the clients.
Horticulture department works as a major body of this organization. To beatify and sustain the greenery of the surrounding areas, this has also a huge responsibility to provide an aesthetic beauty to every building it builds. It has also developed many parks and gardens over the years like Cactus park, Rose Garden in the Budha Jayanti Park.
India Gate, Parliament building, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Prime Minister’s House, South and North Blocks are some great examples of its exotic past and great legacy of excellence and wisdom.
