CGI Incorporation and its strategy in Information Technology
The company and the technology which I am writing about in my Information Technology Final Term Paper are based on my experiences in Information Technology in different functional domains. I have been extremely fortunate to have been associated with CGI Inc. for three years from 2007 to 2010, where I worked as a Software Analyst in myriad technologies such as Enterprise Resource Planning – Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), Website design, development, and testing, Data Warehousing and Data Mining – on tools and reports such as Cognos, Hyperion Essbase, Prodreps, etc; on development and production maintenance of Content Management Software platforms such as Documentum and Eroom, and so on.
CGI Inc. is a multinational I.T consulting firm having its headquarters in Montreal, Canada. CGI in French stands for “Conseillers en Gestion et Informatique” which means in “Information Systems and Management Consultants”. CGI Inc. is one of the largest I.T services providers in North America, providing services in System Integration, technology consulting, and Business Process Outsourcing. The company offers end to end services in a set of sectors such as Financial Services, Technology Communications and Services, Government Healthcare, Manufacturing and Retail and so on.
In this paper, I will be discussing technologies in which I had been fortunate to work on – i.e. Enterprise Resource Planning system called EDI and Website Content Management software; how these and innovative technologies are being used by CGI Inc to deliver top class I.T services to its clients across the World; the potential impact of these technologies on the business models and processes of the clients; what a...
