Imagine driving down the road and a policeman pulls you over for speeding. Are you going to argue with him, even when you know that you were speeding? Chances are most people would answer “no” to this question because they understand what the consequences could entail. Similar to bullying, people find excuses to make someone’s life miserable, when most of the time the victim did nothing but live their life the way they thought was best. Like the police officer situation, bullies will always try to justify their actions even when they know they’re wrong. Cyberbullying is becoming more and more frequent amongst the younger generation. Teens are becoming very much equipped with technology and they’re using it for all the wrong reasons. Historically, people have known about bullying for an interminable amount of time, but nothing has been done about it. A bully is a person that continuously puts others down by using slander. Although it is true that there are punishments for these actions, schools are not doing enough, as well as the community in general, to prevent the issue entirely.
What is cyberbullying? To some people it can mean bullying of social media and to others it means a difference in their lives. “While it is certainly true that physical bullying is unacceptable behavior, cyberbullying can be just as frightening, leaving behind emotional rather than physical scars” (Rogers 12).
Social media is a difficult concept to comprehend because there are so many elements that are comprised within it. There are websites that can be used to communicate with people which has some pros and cons, while there is also text messaging

I believe that a human being can be bullied either by means of media or in person, but still be able to live a good life and not have to resort to the effects of depression. My experiences could be very different from the next persons, but ultimately, we all have an opportunity to bully because the fact that someone is different than us. Every person is molded and shaped with different features to develop diversity. The definition of bullying uses broad statements to define the actual meaning. Because of this, people may view the definition differently than others. The act of bullying has been present in children’s life throughout time. It has been seen in movies, books, and even real life situations. In recent years there has been in increase in the use of technology and the Internet. As a result a new type of bullying has been introduced to today’s generation of teenagers. This new type of bullying is known as cyberbullying. Cyberbullying has a negative impact on the lives of the teenagers that experience it.
People can say the same thing they can say on the internet they can say in real life. Cyberbullying is the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature. It began to emerge when technology became more accessible, and it continues to become a bigger problem as technology expands. Cyberbullies are intentionally hurting their victims, and know that they are doing so. Cyberbullying has harmed all of its victims either mentally, physically, or both. These were just the people willing to speak up about it. In high school many people are more afraid of the effect that bullying someone can have on them. Throughout high school, many teenagers have at some point in time experienced cyberbullying or bullying. Cyberbullying can cause depression or anxiety in teens, as well as stress and lack of participation. It is used to lash out at others through electronics such as: phones, social media, computers, and tablets. People who are not good at communicating face to face can use this method of bullying, so they don’t have to see all the emotions involved. Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a perceived power imbalance (stopbullying.gov). Cyberbullying is bullying by an electronic means. Unlike normal bullying that only last while a person is in school or away from home, cyberbullying can continue nonstop.
