In the novel “ The Wednesday Wars” by Gary D Schmidt Hollings father decides that his sister is not going to college. Although Mr.Hoodhood has said no Heather can still make her own decisions according to what she wants in her life, so that she makes the results of her life and changes what she wants to change. In this situation heather has been beaten, but I think that Mr.hoodhood is wrong because you should go to college no matter how old you are. Just because your parent says you can’t do something doesn’t mean you can’t do it as an adult.
What would happen to the world when the Government and the drug producers create a partnership that benefits each side? This is reality in The House of the Scorpion, by Nancy Farmer. The drug producers are given land between Mexico and the United States, known as Aztlán, that is theirs to do whatever they want, without the interference of outside government, as long as they make sure no illegal immigrants come to the U.S. In the middle of all of this, there is Opium. This is the largest exported drug from Aztlán and the center of young Matt’s life.
I think Fly Guy was very hungry, but he never stopped and he thing best thing to eat. Firstly, He never gave up even when everybody told him to leave and to get away from their food. In the book it states that the boy, girl, and old lady yelled at him and told him to leave. Even though they told him to leave he never stopped looking for food and his friend; Fly Guy is very brave not to give on something he wants. Secondly, I think he always love his best friend very much. In the book it said when he came home he started to look for his friend but he was nowhere to be found. This can infer that he does care about his friend. So, the moral of the story is that if you always work hard and never give up, you will get what you want.
Another fear erected from this novel is the power of seduction over feebleminded women. Evident in a passage from Zofloya, Victoria was swooned even by the sound of his voice, ‘Oh, Flattery, like heavenly dew upon the earth, gratefully dost thou descend upon the ear of woman! Indescribable pleasure dilated the bosom of Victoria, as she listened to the honied accents of the delicate Moor’ (Dacre 156). This villain had a hold over her making it easier to push her towards evil deeds. He promised her security after committing the crimes she wished, ‘…you shall see your desire fulfilled, and I will preserve you from every danger and suspicion’ (Dacre 181). Victoria had wished Berenza dead and Lilla out of the way but required the extra push from Zofloya.
Christopher abnormally obsesses over everything in his life. This is due to his severe OCD, which he struggles with throughout the novel. Likewise, Christopher’s OCD is depicted as a reaction to the lack of control over his environment. He copes with situations he cannot control by looking for various details within his life that bring him peace-of-mind him. For instance, before the policemen arrive at the crime scene of the murder of the Poodle, he felt tense and anxious caused by Mrs. Shears’s neurotic behavior in reaction to viewing Christopher peer over her dead dog. Later, when the police arrive to investigate the crime scene, Christopher feels a surge of comfort because the policeman is a representation (in Christopher’s mind) of order. Before I read “The Keeper” I would ask myself, what can I learn from his biography, and what else is there to know? “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... First, let me introduce the setting. In this dialogue, Piper healed Jason with her “charm speak”, or the ability to get people to do what you want. This dialogue happened because Hera did not warn Jason to look away from her true form, so after Piper healed Jason, then Thalia proceeded to make fun of Hera. Let me also introduce the characters. There is Thalia Grace, otherwise known as Zeus’s daughter, and she is also the lieutenant for the Hunters of Artemis, and that is why she is here, she just helped save Hera. Piper is the daughter of Aphrodite, and she is here while on a quest to save Hera.
People always say never judged a person by their cover, yet some of us still do it without even trying sometimes. I have done this on multiple occasions without really trying to judge a person. I once had an experience where I was trying out for a new club team and I saw this girl who looked really mean and scary because of the expression on her face. I always thought if I ever talk to her she would be mean, but one practice we started to talk and she wasn’t at all the person I thought she ways. It turns out that she is a nice person who just takes soccer very seriously. This just shows that we can have a certain opinion on someone by their looks, but they may be completely opposite from the way they appear.There’s this book call “Freak the Mighty” which has a good way of showing the theme of not judging a person
