Unspeakable events thrashed and tore at the bodies and minds of the Jews living in Europe. Stripped of material possessions, they wondered what kind of hell they would endure in the coming hours. One man was the puppeteer; one man was the monster that the children feared would take them in the night. No one knew the reason, the motive, or the fuel that powered his hatred. Brutal struggles in Hitler’s mind prompted him to cause inhumane struggles for all the Jews as exemplified in Elie Wiesel’s novel titled Night.
It was a big lie, no one knew the grave intentions of Hitler, they only knew the silky and appealing words he spoke. As his campaign grew and his power stretched further, his propaganda became more convincing and his acts of violence were more easily accepted. “ I use emotion for the many and reserve reason for the few”. (Adolf Hitler) Emotion can be many things, hatred, love, aggression and many more. Hitler was nothing less than an emotional child his entire life. From birth to death, if he didn’t get his way hell would freeze over. He knew what the people of Germany wanted so he used his sick salesmanship to get his way. (1-5)
The people in Elie Wiesel’s novel Night, received the tip of the spear in Hitler’s dreams. He wanted them gone, not hurt or maimed, but wiped from the face of the earth. Elie remembers these horrors and nothing can erase them from his memory. If Hitler couldn’t kill all of the Jews he at least wanted them to suffer the memories for generations. Life would never be the same for Elie and his family, Hitler wanted to attack them, not just physically but emotional. It was an attack to the core, all out hatred for no reason. The question is why?
