In today’s world, online shopping has evolved to be one the most used ways to shop in the nation. The term brick and mortar refers to physical stores that customer shop around. Other than online shopping, there are much more ways of direct distribution that can happen outside the typical bricks and mortar companies (Ferrell& Hartline, 2014). In my opinion, more people will continue to shop in brick and mortar businesses rather than online. The physical attributes of shopping in a store will bring more satisfaction than buying online. Also, the retail environments offer things that online shopping does not offer (Richardson, 2017). In the grocery business, customers like to pick their products over having someone else choose their products for them. For example, a customer knows what type, size, and cut they like, going to the grocery store offers them a butcher that can cut the meat the way they want. In the store, vendors can display their products to look more appealing to the customer while online shopping only offers a picture of the product that is not appealing to the customer (Huyghe, Verstrarten, Geuens, & Van Kerckhove, 2017). Also, the business that I own offers online shopping to our customers. I have personally noticed that people will spend more shopping in the store rather than shopping online. In my opinion, the customer spends more in stores because the variety of products is visible. I have been known to walk into a store for one thing and come out of the store with a basket full of goods. I think the government should add tax to online purchase online. I believe if online shopping taxed]s existed as in-store shopping does, online shopping users would decrease due to the cost of the tax and the cost of
