Breast cancer kills fewer women each year than lung cancer, however statistics show that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. The risk increases with age, as an 80-year-old is many times more likely to develop breast cancer than a 20-year-old woman. About three-quarters of all breast cancers occur in women over 50; only 5% develop in women under 40. A woman's family history, weight, alcohol use, and when she first had children may also play a role -- though Dr. Lisa Bailey, a Berkeley oncologist, notes that "at least half of all breast cancers occur in women who do not have any of these risk factors."

Breast cancer. The second leading cause of death among women. In the United States, over 220,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 40,000 will die each year. In men, 2,150 will be diagnosed and only 410 will die. Statistically only 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer and the risk is generally determined by genetics, diet, and lifestyle.
Finding out that you have breast cancer can be a traumatic experience. As a child of God, we want to trust that God has a purpose during our time of adversity. Pray to God for wisdom and understanding on what are breast cancer, the risk, symptoms, and treatments.
...st has 3-4 fold risk of developing new cancer in the other breast this is different from a recurrence of first cancer. “Overall, white women are slightly more likely to develop breast cancer than African Americans women.” 5-10 percent of breast cancer is caused by inherited genetic mutations. “2-5 percent caused by inherited mutations in BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 genes”. High doses of radiation, such as treating the disease, in women under 30 shows the higher increased risk for breast cancer.(2) Having a risk factor, or even several, doesn’t mean that you will get the disease. If you are overweight the connection between that and breast cancer risk is complex about 25 percent. “You will need to exercise as little as 1.25 to 2.5 hours per week of walking reduced the breast cancer risk by 18 percent”.(2) High fat diets is a high risk that causes breast cancer 50 percent exact.
The dictionary defines breast cancer as being a serious disease caused by the growth of abnormal cells, but to a woman, this definition includes a very personal and real fight for their life. According to the Susan G. Komen foundation, one out of every three women is diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and one out of every 13 women diagnosed will die from the disease. As the second leading cause of death among women, this particular form of cancer However, there are currently over 2 million breast cancer survivors that overcame the odds, and these courageous women are evidence of a continual effort to understand the risk factors involved, different types of staging, and treatment options for those affected. While Breast Cancer is still considered a serious illness, every day steps are taken to find a potential cure.
The second most common type of cancer worldwide is Breast Cancer. This can occur in both men and women but significantly more common in women, men only account to one percent of cases all breast cancer cases . It is, in fact, the most common type of cancer among women, affecting more than 230,000 females in the United States in 2013. Two-thirds of women who have or had breast cancer are over the age of 50 and one-third are from the ages 39 to 49 (National Cancer Institute, 2013). There are several risk factors for this cancer. There are also many signs and symptoms that can be felt and noticed for early treatment. Various test and treatments are now available for all with breast cancer, but it still depends upon the severity and stage of the cancer. There are also a few ways to prevent having breast cancer. Even though it is treatable, breast cancer is still a huge problem for both men and women all over the globe, not just in the United States.
Breast Cancer is a tumor that starts in the cell of the breast. Breast cancer can be seen in both men and women, mainly in women. As I started doing the research on breast cancer I decide to basic my topic around African American women (AAW) and breast cancer. Breast cancer affects African American women more, because of their lifestyle, age, and weight. My paper will talk about the side effects, symptoms, different tests, and treatment. I will include what I learn about the African American women having the worst breast cancer mortality, the risk of aggressive breast cancer and that it’s three times higher for African American. It was a new study that said that the ancestry linked to a triple negative breast cancer. This is a type of breast cancer that is more aggressive and has few treatments. Things that African American women need to know are that secondary breast cancer is seen more in African American women regardless of the age. Secondary breast cancer will be seen in the opposite breast; usually 4 percent that was diagnosing with breast cancer will have secondary breast cancer to be seen. African American women had a higher risk for disease recurrence and inferior survival compared with women of other races. It is not fully understood why breast cancer affect the different racial groups, and ethnicity. These are some of the breast cancer risk factors: including reproductive history, family history of breast cancer, menstrual history, hormone use, alcohol consumption, physical activity, height, and body mass. There been studies on this different risk factor that have some affect on breast cancer in women.
Although breast cancer is a very common disease, getting the disease from genetics is very rare and uncommon. Out of all breast cancers, hereditary breast cancer is shown to only take up five to ten percent of all breast cancer cases. Even though breast cancer passed down from parent to child is very uncommon, there are other ways this genetic disorder can develop. Constantly, studies and research continue to reveal daily habits and factors of people’s lifestyle that may increase or decrease the risk of breast cancer. The specific studies are looking into the effects of diet, exercise and weight change (gain or loss) and the effects of these on breast cancer research is also going into the environment having a possible cause of breast cancer disease. The average type of breast cancer, or most common breast cancer, is only associated with genetic changes that occur in the breast cells throughout a lifetime. These changes are called somatic mutations.

Basically, breast cancer happens when the amount of cells growth exceeds the amount of cells which die. Ultimately, they are out of control and being spread to other parts of the body, including the liver, bones or even the brain. There are many factors which contribute to breast cancer. For instance, genetics plays an important role to a woman who has a mother, a sister, or another member of the family who has been diagnosed with this disease. This woman has an increased risk of developing breast cancer. Exposure to chemical elements, such as drugs, alcohol, or radiation, also increases the risk. Last but not least, age ...
