Our data indicates that a combined 87.1% of breakfast skippers are secondary and post-secondary students. We gave the survey to individuals of different age groups, but found out that the majority of people qualified to take our survey, breakfast skippers, were in fact high school and university students.This trend may be due to various reasons, teenagers often have different ways of rationalizing why they skip breakfast, such as because it is inconvenient, time consuming, habitual, redundant to their diet, or a combination of all above. It may also be because statistically speaking parents are less restrictive on their child’s diet as they grow older, which leaves room for more flexibility in the child’s food choices. These various health issues likely have affect an individual’s reasoning on skipping breakfast. The majority without any health issues are more likely to skip breakfast because of the inconvenience or because it is time consuming rather than due to dietary restrictions.
Breakfast foods often contain grains and/or dairy products consisting of gluten, which may account for why individuals with celiac disease choose to skip breakfast. As for obesity, many people ironically skip breakfast in hopes to lose weight, but they end up reducing their metabolism and gaining weight. Anemia is a condition marked by deficiency of red blood cells in the blood, creating feelings of weariness and pallor. This is due to iron deficiencies in your body, which in some cases are from skipping necessary meals. These problems can be addressed through promoting the positive effects of eating breakfast, as many people do not understand its nutritional importance. Increased positive advertising of our product can ensure that people will be more aware of the negative effects of skipping breakfast while hopefully reducing the withstanding health issues due to breakfast
