Bound by the chains of fear from abuse, threats, and depression, several are unable to enjoy life to the fullest. Living day-to-day in dreadful shackles, wishing someone would hear their cry of help deep within while holding back tears of pain. Crimes against women are an issue that is increasing around the world. Several women experience sexual violence in their lifetime, and numerous stories go untold. According to RAINN, “17.7 million American women have been victims of attempted or completed rape” (RAINN 1). This type of behavior is becoming more noticed and unacceptable as time passes. Numerous organizations have been created to help women who are in need of a lending hand and listening ear. Crimes against women are dishonorable and revolting not only because they are an offense, but because the different forms such as domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking cause severe physical and mental effects. Everyone deserves to be protected from bodily abuse. According to National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 85% of domestic violence victims are women (NCADV). This includes the act of violent abuse, usually done by a partner such as a spouse or ex-spouse, to gain power (Joyful Heart). Domestic violence is the cause of several effects such as physical, emotional, financial, and social effects. If one receives behavior such as this for extended amounts of time, it can result in permanent damage, or even death. The study was found by the Centers for Disease Control:
Nearly three in every 10 women—about 32 million—and one in ten men in the United States who experienced rape, physical violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner reported at least one measured impact or effect related to forms of violent behavior in that relationship. (Joyful Heart)
