Bra cups are made of lace or fabric or combination of both with or without pads stitched. Cups are made in wide range of sizes, shapes, styles and for different purposes. The Upper top part of the Cup is called the Upper or Top Cup while the lower part of the Cup that supports the breast is known as the Cup. The volume of breasts a cup can hold is measured in terms of cup size displayed by an Alphabet starting from A onwards wherein Cup A is smaller than Cup B. The indicative alphabet is suffixed to the bra size in number such as 32A, 36C, 40D, etc. One can know the Cup size by deducting the Band size from the Bust size wherein the difference is assigned an Alphabet that differs from country to country and old times to the modern time. Fabric Fabric is major component of a brassiere used in the Cups, Bridge (Cradle), Wings and Bands. Of course, each of these parts has different functions so variety of fabrics can be used for Cups, Bridge, Wings and Bands. In modern times, hundreds of fabrics are used for outer side of cups, inner lining of the cups, band, motifs and even shoulder straps. Fabrics can be made of natural fibers (extracted from Animals or Plants), manmade fibers (regenerated, semi-synthetic or synthetic) or blends of natural and/or manmade
Bulletproof vests are used world-wide in order to protect the wearer of the vest from a bullet. A shot from a gun can be deadly to anyone and therefore, people searched for protection. They found the answer when they discovered Bulletproof vests. But how can a small vest worn around the torso save someone’s life? In order to understand how it is possible, the process of how it’s made, comes into question. Considering the copious amount of lives they have saved, Bulletproof vests are made by sewing woven fibers into vests and layering them on top of each other, in order to deflect bullets.

...ike a tank top at the top, with a midsection that connected to shorts on the bottom. (“121 Professional Vintage Sport Photos Taken Before 1925 ~ Crack Two,” n.d.) For the next few decades nothing much changed in the style of the swimsuit, however the materials did begin to change. A silk swimsuit was introduced in the 30’s (“Not So Fun in the Sun: A History of Women’s Swimsuits | Jennifer McQuiston | Historical Romance Author,” n.d.). In 1946, designer Louis Reard decided to hire Micheline Bernardini to model his latest creation – the ‘Bikini’ – because his regular models refused to wear it. This garment revolutionized the swimwear industry. This is a garment well known today as having two separate pieces exposing the mid section. It is believed that because of wartimes, to save money, the government decided to cut back on fabric production, thus the bikini was born.

Weaving is a common thread among cultures around the world. Weaving is a way of producing cloth or textile. Today we have machines that weave large-scale textiles at cheap prices. Production of cloth by hand is rarely engaged in today’s Westernized societies. Not many people are thinking about how the fibers are actually constructed to make their clothes. However, in other cultures across the world the tradition of weaving still exists. By comparing three cultures that continue weaving as a part of their tradition we can see similarities and the differences between them. The reasons that each culture still weaves vary, as do the methods and materials. The desired characteristics of the cloth also vary around the world as each culture values different aesthetics.

First of all, the fibres can classified as natural or man-made fibres. Natural fibres are those obtained from the natural resources on the environment, whereas the man-made fibres could be synthetic or regenerated fibres. Synthetic fibres are completely made from chemicals while regenerated fibres are those originally from natural resources unsuitable to be used as fibres directly, processed chemically to be changed into textile fibres. In this assignment, we will study on the general textile manufacturing processes as listed below. Then, it is hoped that the knowledge on general process could help us understand more on the industry as well to relate it with the environment.
