BrandX Energy (BX) from its inception has been an innovator and forward-thinking organization often pushing boundaries and charting unknown territories while still maintaining a level of business conservatism that has given shareholders peace of mind and confidence in the business decisions that corporate management has made to reduce expenses and increase profit revenues. One such departure from the mainstream has been BX's interest in implementing VoIP communication services company-wide to reduce expenses related to national and international phone calls and telecommunication services. As most traditional corporations, BX had been implementing a PBX system at the corporate headquarters and at its refinery locations for many years, with pipeline and terminals (P&T) and divisional offices using standard telephone services provided by the local telco. However, with the promises of VoIP, BX has begun a shift in its operating practices with regards to telecommunication services.
BX began quite inconspicuously with one of the smaller refinery operations that the organization owns. BX opted to use this as the first phase of its implementation of VoIP services at one of their Gulf Coast refineries. The overall implementation plan calls for installing VoIP hardware and software for four types of locations: refinery operations, corporate operations, P&T operations and divisional operations. The execution phase started with an installation and beta test at the newest Gulf Coast refinery and hailed as a success. With this triumph, BX has opted to begin rolling out VoIP services at the refinery level first, investigating which refinery locations are prime candidates for the service at this time and which, due to infrastructure cos...

...e to detect outages, escalate issues pertaining to these outages and troubleshoot outages when possible.
While integrating VoIP has been a daunting task, proper management and team cooperation has managed to minimize outages and poor installations while maximizing performance at each installed site. Currently most of the Gulf Coast refineries have been migrated to VoIP with much success and in spite of recent events with hurricane Katrina, the impeccable attention to detail and foresight has enabled the sites to maintain operations with minimal down time. BX Energy has always been at the forefront of technology be it in refining arena or in the technology arena or any arena between. But with due diligence and careful attention to detail, this forward-thinking approach coupled with careful planning has made BX a formidable success in the oil and refining business.

Corporate social responsibility is globally defined as operating a business in a way that meets or exceeds the ethical, legal, commercial and public expectations that society has of business. The concern of CSR has drastically increased over the last two decades. It has enhanced interactions between governments, businesses, society and internationally. In the past, businesses primarily focus themselves with the economic results of their decisions. Now, businesses must also reflect on the legal, ethical, moral and social consequences of their decisions. Corporate Social Responsibility is no longer defined by how much money a company contributes to charity, but by its overall involvement in activities that improve the quality of people’s lives.

Regarding to Kidman (2010), nowadays 88 percent of customers prefer to use multiple channels through internet data, including call centre, search and social networking, to resolve the problems and Telstra announces that there are decreasing the number of clients who contact call centre and customer service via phone. Though the Talisman Energy Inc. have done due diligence in order to prevent the recurrence of what happened in Sudan, entering Iraq may be a precarious move. However, following the saying “high risk, high reward” the corporation should enter Iraq for the following reasons. Kurdistan is a much safer area than the rest of Iraq, being given the fact that it’s U.S. –backed Iraqi government in place. Kurdistan is also much different than the rest of Iraq, being given their Indo-European culture. Kurdistan had been seeking independence from Iraq for several years, but each time it was cause for war, until the American and British troops invaded Iraq in 2003. Kurdistan saw that as an opportunity to claim their autonomy and built the Kurdistan Region Government. Given the fact that a geographical survey estimated Kurdistan to have about 39 billion barrels of oil reserves, entering Iraq was worth taking the risk. Since Talisman Inc.’s reputation had been slumped by the Sudanese incident, in which the corporation was accused of supporting the genocide because the Sudanese government used their revenues from Talisman Inc. to buy weaponry, Talisman Inc. should somehow make sure that the KRG doesn’t use their revenues of $220 million to also buy weaponry.

The main advantage of using this system is that is supports voice over IP (VoIP) services such as IP-Centrex. IP Centrex is a service that provides a single broadband access point to a company. In the past few years, the number of call centers all over the world has been increasing. This spike in the number of call centers all over the world is owed to the fact that more and more corporations are outsourcing their customer care businesses to other nations in the form of call centers. This trend is followed because in countries like India, China, etc. since the population huge, cheap labor is presence in abundance and thus saves the big multinationals a lot of bucks. This act of outsourcing is however a very resourceful concept for such nations as it is helps in the creation of employment.
Making a telephone call no longer should conjure up visions of operators connecting cables by hand or even of electrical signals causing relays to click into place and effect connections during dialing. The telephone system now is just a multilevel computer network with software switches in the network nodes to route calls get through much more quickly and reliably than they did in the past. A disadvantage is the potential for dramatic and widespread failures; for as has happened.
