The brain, debatably most important organ of the body, only weighs about three pounds. Two crucial parts of the brain are the cerebrum and the cerebellum. The cerebrum holds four main lobes, named the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital. This part of the brain is responsible for thought and perception. The cerebellum has two hemispheres, and it's responsible for coordination, balance and posture. Without these two sections of the brain, perceiving the world around us would be rather impossible. The cerebrum, otherwise known as the cortex, is the largest part of the human brain. The cortex is highly wrinkled, essentially making the brain more efficient due to the increased surface area. The greater surface area allows a multiplicity of neurons within it. The four parts that make up the cortex include the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe and lastly the temporal lobe.
