Noah Blohm Ms. Reed CP English 9 February 8, 2016 Bre Pettis: Innovation at Its Best Bre Pettis is very well known in the technological world as a entrepreneur of 3D printers. Bre knows how to build a business from the ground up. He created the now very big and successful company MakerBot without much to start with. Bre Pettis has positively influenced and changed the world with his affordable products for those without much money, and his influential projects such as making easy to assemble prosthetic limbs for handicapped people. Bre Pettis is the co-founder of MakerBot, a pioneering 3D-printer manufacturer that creates 3D-printers for the masses. Bre was born in Ithaca, NY in 1973. Their business grew from making 600 printers per year to making 600+ in one week. In less than 5 years MakerBot grew to a 400 million dollar business(Welch). In 2012, Bre Pettis won the Disruptive Innovation Award. He is a speaker and a favorite interview subject who has graced many magazine covers.(Life in… 3D) His passion is to build tools to empower creative explorers to innovate(Welch). Bre Pettis can make his 3D printers cheap and modifiable, revolutionizing the technological world.
