His reckless, outspoken manner gained him friends and enemies of equal determination. General Patton was not only an extrovert of public perception, but he also had an intensely private side. He was a man who trained himself for greatness with a determination matched by no other Allied General of World War Two. During the war, Patton led U.S. troops in Morocco, Tunisia, and Sicily, then took command of the Third Army, leading the troops through the German lines at Normandy to traverse France and eventually into the heart of Germany.

Since its publication in 1965, Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood has held an exclusive seat in American literary history. His augmentation to the genre of journalism, which he tagged the “non-fiction novel”, was the first cognizant pursuit to use novelistic devices while sticking to the protocols of journalism to spawn a new literary art form. Due to it’s distinctiveness and capacity to tell a story, In Cold Blood is an American classic.

Bram Stoker's Dracula incorporates blood in many ways, making it a big theme throughout the book. Blood is seen as very sacred and valuable to vampires, because it is their source of nutrition and it keeps their bodies immortal. The Holy Communion is similar to the way that Dracula uses blood since Dracula uses blood as a source of life. Dracula's form of acquiring blood is also seen as a sexual act that causes the purity of the one whose blood was being sucked, to be taken from them. The importance of your blood line can be seen through the many ways that everyone is treated in Dracula along with the class everyone was in. I first read The Fall in college and thought it one of the best explorations of a single character I have ever or will ever read. Unfortunately, my paper on the work was less well received. In fact, it was given a mark of "C" with the advice that I pay closer attention to the story. To this day I consider The Fall an incredible character study in search of a story. Why does one need a perfect story, anyway? It remains my bias... the professor did not appreciate what Camus accomplished and overstated what Camus did not. (The preceding opinions are my own.)

In November 15, 1959, Richard "Dick" Eugene Hickock and Perry Edward Smith were motivated to kill four members of a highly well- respected family for a safe that supposedly contained thousand dollars. The gruesome murders of the Clutters occurred on an isolated village located in southern west of Kansas, which provoked members of the community to begin to suspect whether someone in Holcomb committed such action since the crime appeared to be senseless. Truman Capote, author of In Cold Blood, explains how the people in the village were tormented and devastated because of the murders that took place. Capote emphasizes the result the murders had on Holcomb by using dashes to describe the scene and setting.
In Truman Capote’s non-fiction novel In Cold Blood, the Clutter family’s murderers, Perry Smith and Dick Hickock, are exposed like never before. The novel allows the reader to experience an intimate understanding of the murderer’s pasts, thoughts, and feelings. It goes into great detail of Smith and Hickock’s pasts which helps to explain the path of life they were walking leading up to the murder’s, as well as the thought’s that were running through their minds after the killings.
