In “As If it’s Your Last”, Blackpink, the band, uses metaphor, repetition, mimesis, and simile to describe a story about a girl trying to win her crush’s heart and she keeps trying her best and not giving up. To being with, Blackpink sings the phrase “You’re like a fistful of sand. It’s like I can hold you but I can’t.” to show simile. This simile contains a meaning. It shows how hard it is to make her crush like her back. When you hold a fistful of sand, sand starts coming out from your hand and it’s hard to stop them from coming out from your hand. It is hard to make him like her back as much as stopping the sand from coming out from the gaps.
