The BBP or Black Panther party for self-defence was a black revolutionary socialist organization working for self-defence of black people. They were founded in Oakland, California, by Bobby Seale and Huey P. Newton on October 15, 1996. They had a huge background of goals, history and beliefs. The Black Panther party reformed the structure of American Society to achieve social, political and economic equality, based on principles of socialism. Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale led a revolution that was driven in response to the oppression of black people.

The Black Panther Party may have been seen as a prominently male organization, but to everyone’s surprise it was two-thirds female. It devised a ten-point platform that strived towards obtaining civil rights for African Americans, to be treated equally and given the same opportunities to succeed. In, African American Women, Civil Rights, and Black Power, Patton states “Black people have no choice but to move and move rapidly to gain their freedom, justice and all the other ingredients of civilized living that have been denied to us.
Black Panther Party were one the most famous black power movement that was organize in the late 1960s. Invent by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale, they wanted to stop the oppression of the black community from white business owners, governments, and the police. At first, the moment originally called the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense to utilize the Party’s beliefs from the domineering nonviolent campaign of the Civil Rights Movement. Additionally, the Black Panther Party develop the Ten-Point program, which disclose the major conflicts that were detrimental to the black communities and also explains the wants and needs for the Black masses in America. Some of these Ten-Point program were freedom, full employment, end to robbery of Black communities, decent housing, education for the people, free health care, end to police brutality and murder, end to all wars of aggression, and freedom for all political prisoners.
What was the Black Panther Party for Self Defense? During the turbulent 1960’s, the Black Panther party was initially established to protect the black community from police brutality. The Black Panther Party grew its membership by appealing to the sense of hopelessness in black American people. Although widely known for violence, the Black Panther Party had goals to organize and service the black and oppressed communities. Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale wrote an outline for the BPP, the Ten Point Program, which set the objective for members to follow.
Bobby served here for three and a half years and left with the rank of corporal. After he left the Air Force he enrolled at Merrit College in Oakland where he intended to study engineering. Bobby first became interested in 1962 when he first heard Malcolm-X speak. During his enrollment at the University, he joined the Afro-American Association (AAA) which was an organization formed by young African-Americans in Oakland to try to confront the problems faced by the black community. This was an organization that tried to confront the problem faced by the black community.
The Black Panther Party were an African American organization that formed in 1966 to try to end racism and inequality for all black people. They were a help at the time and supported civil rights for African Americans, but used more violence to support their cause. They fought for freedom for all discriminated black people. Then later on, new Black Panther Party’s formed to support their original cause. Before the Black Panthers, slavery just ended, and there was a civil rights movement going on.
Born a slave in 1855, Wright’s future had already been predetermined for him. However, after the civil war ended, he moved Atlanta to get an education. In 1876, Wright was named valedictorian at Atlanta University’s first commencement ceremony. He also studied at a number of other institutions over his lifetime including Harvard, Columbia, the University of Chicago, Oxford University, and the University of Pennsylvania (BlackPast). He, as an ex-slave, helped to break the glass ceiling that tried to stop African- Americans from getting an education.
Black Power is a term that was used to imply that African Americans should establish their own political, cultural and social institutions that are independent from the white society. The movement was well-known in the late 1960s and early 1970s.Black power expresses Black Nationalism, which is the rejection of fear from white presence. Many whites dreaded the movement after Black Panthers began to use the movement as their militant organization. Black Panther is a 10-point program that was created in Oakland, California. Even some fought for revenge against the Southern way of life. But what I believe that they fought for was their rights as citizens. They wanted to be treated as Citizens of the United States of America, and have all of the privileges endowed to citizens. “If we fight to maintain a Republican Government, we want Republican privileges.....all we ask is the proper enjoyment of the rights of citizenship,” p205. This tells me that the African Americans were thinking of their rights of citizenship before the war had concluded.
