On the black Lives Matter website, Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, Opal Tometi, the Founders of the organization explain in this popular article that BLM was created to fight for equality for the black community. Black Lives Matter was created to give black men, and women a bigger voice. As their voices are sometimes overlooked. Her stance is neutral. Novich states “Police are encouraged to enforce laws based on statistics that further perpetuate harmful and fear inducing stereotypes” (20). My question to the previous statement would be, are police racist or are the laws they are taught to enforce racist? Novich explains the BLM advocators and those who support police should not fight against each other. They should fight together to justify how policing should actually be. In this case the black lives matter will become successful because they will not be fighting against blue lives, they will be fighting toghether to fix the laws. Their stance is neutral providing facts from both races. They examine how both races, white and black, see the injustice system. Meaning are they in favor of it or against it. Peffley and his colleague state “Blacks do not typically think about fairness without considering race, and whites almost never think about fairness by taking race into account” (8). This statement alone can show how the U.S. Justice System works. I will use this source to explain why one race is all for the justice system and one race is typically not for it at all. As a justice system that claims to be “FOR ALL”, there should be no doubt in it. All races should be in favor of the justice system, and if there is ever a time where people are not in favor of it, it should be evaluated.
