From perfectionist firstborns to demanding lastborn, we are affected by birth order. Our personality can be affected by birth order. Birth order effects personality but there are many other factors that make up a personality. I see it all over in the world today. My friend is a firstborn and he gets what he wants, but with force. My sister is a lastborn and she gets what she wants, but with whining and crying. Middle children are usually the best of the lot. That’s me. I am just perfect, I have most of the second born qualities but I have a lot of firstborn too. First you need to know what birth order is, and the effects it can have on people. Birth order is the order in which you were born. How it affects people, that’s a hard one to explain. Usually firstborns are the natural leaders, the high achievers, and the mini adults. Secondborns or middle children are usually independent and the people pleasers. The lastborn are outgoing, self-centered, competitive brats. This is reflected in my family. My older brother is a natural leader, I am the peacemaker, and my little sister is the spoiled brat (Neal). There is proof of this. Parents start with the first kid, they are cautious and inexperienced. Just when the first child gets use to the attention, the second born rolls around ("Birth Order: What is "Birth Order"?"). The parents are as careful with the second child, but now the second gets the attention. The firstborn has to achieve great things to get any attention now. The second and first will usually have different personalities. “The middle child will demonstrate the greatest variety of character traits but they will be opposite of their older sibling” (Teresa).
