General Robert E. Lee. He was one of the biggest and the brightest at his time and possibly up to date. His life span, some would describe it as nothing but service to the Rebel forces, or a traitor. He was offered a job by Abraham Lincoln to command the Union troops during the Civil War. But he generously declined the offer because of his view on slavery. This is his life before the civil war.Lee was both the 4th child to Anne Hill Carter his mother and General Henry Lee III. His father was a the governor of Virginia, so he was a big influence to todays Virginia. Robert was mainly raised by his mother Anne, she taught him about authority, tolerance and order and every thing that made him who he later became. Lee was introduced to Christianity at an early age and was Christ's follower. He always liked education and in 1829 he was accepted to West point after a period of time he was appointed superintendent from 1852 to 1855.
