Biography of Mahatma Gandhi Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in 1869 in India and was murdered by a fanatic, Hindu Nathuram Godsey. Gandhi was a Hindu as well and he was born in the second cast. Hindus have the belief that everyone is born into a cast. Depending on how well you stick to the religious rules depends on what cast you are in once you get to the next life. If you are true to the faith, you will be in a higher cast. However, if you behave badly you will be dropped a cast. Some Hindus don’t have a cast. These people are called the “Untouchables” and live in the biggest poverty. They have a horrible life, getting rejected from everyone. When Gandhi was born, India was under the rule of Britain. They had been in the British Empire for several hundred years. Many people lived in poor conditions because Britain took all the wealth. After school, Gandhi went to London to study law. He became a lawyer and worked for an Indian firm. They soon wanted him to go and work in South Africa and represent the company. It was there in South Africa that Gandhi realised how bad the white settlers hated the Indian people. He was often resented and once got thrown off a bus for refusing to give up his seat. It was that day that he decided he would no longer be pushed away. He would fight for the rights of his fellow people. He swore that he would fight for his people without violence. Gandhi started up a project, ashram, which united people of all religions to live together in peace. He soon went back to India and was received by many crowds of people cheering him at the harbour. He did not like all the fame he had been getting; he wanted to live like the poor people of India, out in the country. He started travelling through India on the train and third class wagons. Doing this, he saw what the real life was like for the less fortunate people of India.

“ First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win” (Mahatma Gandhi). Gandhi was born in 1869 in Porbandar. Throughout his life Gandhi helped those in need. He was taught that everyone and everything is holy. He married at the custom age of 19 and went to London to study law. The thing that helped Gandhi promote nonviolence is that he worked his entire life saying that violence didn’t change the way people acted. He lived his life saying that an eye for an eye only made the whole world blind. Gandhi’s nonviolent movement worked because he had something to prove and everyone else in the world agreed with him.
Try living in a society where starving children lay on the streets looking for food, or where lack of education leads you nowhere. However, a man with knowledge and wealth helped his people fight for their rights. Gandhi’s background made him who he was; giving him an idea of how to get India’s independence, and impact on India helped people realized you can fight with knowledge and nonviolence to change a way of life.

If I had the opportunity to have lunch with an important person I would choose Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi was definitely an admirable person who fought for Indian liberation through peaceful forms of disobedience. Gandhi showed to the world that there were more important things to fight or worry about than material things. He was very committed to his policy of non-violent non-cooperation to achieve the independence of India. His main goal was to alleviate poverty, liberate woman, put an end to discrimination, and achieve self-rule. As a very catholic person, sometimes I feel that if Jesus would reincarnate in earth, Gandhi will be, doubtless, the best figure to represent Him. Jesus and Gandhi shared so many virtues that the similarities in between

Would one say that Mohandas Gandhi fits the model of a Greek tragic hero? Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar , India into a middle class Hindu family. Gandhi is most well-known as the leader of the Indian independence movement when India was under British oppressive rule at the start of the 18th century. Gandhi used his self-created method of satygraha, which was based on principles of truth and nonviolence as a way of protest. Because of his nonviolent civil disobedience, his goodness, and his catastrophic death, Gandhi would fit all the parts necessary to be a Greek tragic hero. The definition of a Greek tragic hero is one that has a power, flaw, and a catastrophe. Gandhi’s height in goodness was his power, and also his flaw. Gandhi was able to achieve many things for India because of his power, but it eventually led to his assassination in New Delhi. Mohandas Gandhi fits the model of a Greek tragic hero, because he has a power and a flaw that leads to a catastrophe.
“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you”. This is a quote from a famous cartoon character Dr. Suess. Inspiration is defined as stimulation, arousal of the mind, etc to special or unusual activity or creativity.1 Therefore an inspirational person will be someone who can influence others to express their potential in a positive way. Well, in my case the person who inspired me the most is a politician. It might sound absurd, how a politician can inspire a medical student like me? As a medical student, I often have problems in life, especially in my studies, but Dr. Mahathir has shown me that a problem does not depend on how big or how small it is, but how we look at the problem and the way to solve it. By it he taught me to solve problems efficiently and make good decisions quickly.
“The strongest physical force bends before moral force when used in the defense of truth.” - Mahatma Gandhi (Bondurant). Mahatma Gandhi was the main leader in helping India become independent through the principles of non violence, self-rule, and the unity of Hindus and Muslims. His full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, but he was given the name Mahatma later on in his life. He wanted to see an united India without the rule of the British Empire. He accomplished this with passive resistance or resistance by non violence because he wanted to show that violence is not always the best answer.
John 3:15 states whoever believes in Him, that 's the Lord Jesus Christ shall not perish but have eternal life. Whoever places a saving faith, which is nothing less than a commitment of your life to the Lord Jesus shall not be eternally punished but receive eternal life.
Mahatma Gandhi's Influence and Ideas Mahatma Gandhi was a man of faith and great conviction. He was born into an average Hindu family in India. Like most teenagers he had a rebellious stage when he smoked, spent time with girls and ate meat (forbidden to strict Hindus). The young Gandhi changed as a person while earning a living as a lawyer in South Africa. He came in contact with the apartheid and the future Mahatma began to emerge, one who championed the truth through non-violent resistance.
