Grace Kelly was a world-admired actress who couldn’t seem to not get attention. She was a world-beauty who people would die to be. But besides being a world-admired actress, Grace Kelly was a down to earth princess.
Grace Patricia Kelly was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 12, 1929. Her mother was Margaret Katherine Majer: 1st coach of the women’s athletic team at the University of Pennsylvania. Her father was John Brendan “Jack” Kelly, a champion sculler who won three Olympic gold medals. Her father was also a self- made millionaire (“Grace Kelly Biography”).
As a child Grace preferred to play by herself. One time she was accidentally locked into a closet for several hours. When she was found, she was happily playing with her dolls. As an adolescent, she was very insecure about her physical appearance. She once said in an interview, “I almost crawled into woodwork, I was so self- conscious” (Kehoe 116).
Grace Kelly expressed a deep love for performing at a young age. In addition to participating in school plays and productions, she often modeled with her mom and sister (“Grace Kelly Biography”).
While attending Steven’s school, a small private high school in Philadelphia, she continued to dream about acting. Her uncle, George Kelly, was the one who encouraged her to pursue a full-time acting career. After high school, Kelly decided to pursue her acting career in New York City, despite her parent’s objections. Kelly then enrolled in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, still not listening to her parents (“Grace Kelly Biography”).

After she died, a hybrid cultivar of rose was named after her. The Princess Grace rose is now widely planted in Monaco (Kehoe 116).
All-in-all, Grace Kelly was an amazing person who became a princess. Not many people are able to say that. Not only was she a famous actress, but she was also a famous princess. Long live Princess Grace.
