Abraham Lincoln, also known as “Honest Abe”, was the 16th president of the United States. Lincoln was and still is one of the most respected presidents of all time. Although he may not have been widely liked during his run. He did one of the hardest jobs that any person could do, he served the U.S. as president during its civil war and managed to overcome the south and hold the U.S. together by just a couple of strands. Lincoln was only able to do this because he had the ability to strive forward and see what good could come instead of what was happening. He was a self-motivated man and didn’t need anyone to help inspire him to keep striving forward, he learned to do this at an early age. He showed us that you may not be liked for it now but, in the future it will be worth it. Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Hodgenville, Kentucky (the first president to be born outside of the thirteen original colonies).
