Alexander Hamilton. His name was Alexander Hamilton. Yeah, I know what your thinking. “There’s a million things he hasn’t done”, but wait. There were a lot of things he has done. Like for example, writing the Federalist Papers, being the first Secretary of Treasury, and doing lots of other amazing things. But, you’ll learn about that later. Hamilton was born in St. Kitts and Nevis, which is in the Caribbean, on January 11th, 1755. The death of Hamilton, was a big deal. He was challenged to a duel by Aaron Burr. He was shot in Weehawken, NJ, but later died in Greenwich, NY. Aaron Burr and Hamilton were actually friends, which was why the duel and shooting was so dramatic. Croix in the Danish West Indies, and this is where Hamilton was born. In 1765 James Hamilton abandoned his family (Hamilton was about 2 years old). After that, Hamilton was raised by just his mother. And, a couple years later, she set up a small shop, and at the age of 11 Alexander went to work, becoming a clerk in the counting house of two New York merchants who had recently established themselves at St. Croix. I think his father leaving him may have affected him, because after his mother died, he had no parents. I think in the long run, that might have made him work harder and be more reliable because he was always known as a man of honor, unlike his father who left him and his mother. Hamilton went to NJ to attend school in Elizabethtown (preparatory school) and then went to King's College for 2 years in either Columbia or New York. I think since he was only at King’s College for 2 years, he worked very hard and was very motivated and I think that helped him with a lot of things. I also think that George Washington was his influence because Hamilton was known as his ‘right hand man’ and they worked with each other very closely. I think Washington impacted him because he might influence him to stay into politics, and obviously is a good person to know, because he was the president. I think writing motivated him because he wrote the Federalist papers instead of just talking and defending it, and he wrote incredible letters, and had a great way with
