William (Bill) Henry Gates III was born in Seattle, Washington on October 28, 1955 to a lawyer and teacher. Over the past 68 years, he has accomplished many things. He, and his partner Paul Allen, developed a popular operating system that most of the world uses today: Microsoft Windows. Not only did they create the operating system, but also founded Microsoft itself. In addition to being the founder of such an innovative and world-changing company, he has developed several charitable foundations, and even acquired an honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II.
Bill Gates has been interested in programming since he was 13 years old. While attending public school, his parents noticed that he was very bored and often spent his time reading encyclopedias. Since he was excelling in all of his classes, they decided to enroll him into a private school called Lakeside. While he was attending Lakeside, he became fascinated with the Teletype terminal that was provided for use to the students. He spent much of his free time using it. He eventually developed a tic-tac-toe game that could be played by the students where they played against the computer program. He also met his future partner at this school, Paul Allen. Paul was two grades ahead of him, but they quickly became friends due to their shared fascination for computers. Bill and Paul worked together on a few projects while attending Lakeside. They developed a payroll program for the computer company that provided the Teletype terminals to the school. They also developed a scheduling program for the school.

It started with two teenagers who envisioned an endless world of possibilities for the world of computing at an early stage. Paul Allen and Bill Gates were two high school students who attended Lakeside their dreams of one day being computer moguls started with a word processor, the Teletype Model 33 that they played with and programmed. It was brought from a rummage sale that the Mothers club attended. It was located in the activity room at their private school in Washington.
The William H. Gates foundation was started in 1994 and was operated by Bill’s dad. Paul came back to Microsoft and Bill and Paul donated to their old school, Lakeside private school. They created a auditorium in the school named after their old friend, Kent Evans. In 1995, Microsoft started adding the internet to their future plans. They created a web browser called Internet Explorer and launched a network for the internet called MSN. Along with this, Windows 95 was also released that same year.

Bill did not willingly venture to parties as most college students do, unless dragged there by his friend Steve Ballmer, whom he later repaid by naming him president of Microsoft. He slacked off a bit always trying to get the highest grades by putting in the least amount of energy. In his second year he dropped out, he and Paul Allen founded a company called Traf-O-Data, which analyzed city traffic data. Though a good idea, there was not much need for it. After reading an article in Popular Mechanics, Gates and Allen contacted M.I.T.S. in regards to providing software for the new computer Altair 8800. They were soon contracted for programming languages and moved to New Mexico and started Micro-soft (the hyphen would later be dropped).
