Two years ago I started increasing interest in television, and watching movies. In addition, I grew quite fond of a sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady. The show is called “Big Bang Theory”. Anytime a good laugh was needed, I knew I could count on this hilarious serious. Also I found a new favorite movie. My new favorite movie is called “Notebook” it’s a romantic drama film. Anyone who has seen this movie probably had eyes filled with tears. The movie is directed by Nick Cassavetes, it’s based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks. This is the type of entertainment I take a strong liking to; each one has its own reasons.
During the month (January 6 – January, 12, 2014) the sixteenth week of season 2013- 2014, “Big Bang Theory” has the largest ratings from viewers ages 18-24. I researched this information on www.tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com, written by Sara Bibel. I believe the older crowd has a different sense of humor, and their interest is what causes this show to have an upward trend. The series “Big Bang Theory” has numerous funny quotes that can explain why the trend increases, and why people tune in everyday to watch.
Examples of some quotes from www.the-big-bang-theory.com/quotes/ are I’m not crazy, my mother had me tested (Sheldon Cooper’s role). Another (Sheldon Cooper role) mom smokes in the car. When deciding what movie to do for this particular paper I faced a few issues. I knew what the requirements were, but I wanted something different and something I could have fun watching and writing as well. So, after looking around and pondering movies for weeks I finally decided on a perfect choice The 60’s directed by Mark Piznarski?
Film and literature are two media forms that are so closely related, that we often forget there is a distinction between them. We often just view the movie as an extension of the book because most movies are based on novels or short stories. Because we are accustomed to this sequence of production, first the novel, then the motion picture, we often find ourselves making value judgments about a movie, based upon our feelings on the novel. It is this overlapping of the creative processes that prevents us from seeing movies as distinct and separate art forms from the novels they are based on.
The other day I watched a movie… it's called “ What's eating Gilbert Grape”. The movie was really good, although it was like two hours long and it was a drag. Yet the movie kept me asking myself, what's going to happen next, yet maybe that's just me because I’m always asking myself that during a movie(or book). This movie was about a dysfunctional family… not only family, but house, town, and people too. This movie is your typical dysfunctional small town movie, yet with a few twist and turns.
The stories of Nick Cassavetes The Notebook (2004) and Richard Curtis About Time (2013) are both similar yet different in their own ways. The Notebook is an American romance drama film starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling that was extremely successful not only in American box office but also shared great worldwide success. This film exemplifies the struggle between love and social class. Two young lovers have to face social class boundaries and put their loves on the line. The approach that this movie trying to make is a relevant topic in the world we inhabit today and undoubtedly contributed to this film’s success. The film is kind of slow, leaving some empty spaces along the way in order for the audience to fill in and fully engage with
As you probably could have assumed, I love to watch any film I can get my hands on, and my once strong friendships are hanging on by a thread due to hours spent helping on short films of mine. Unlike some applicants, I come from a farming community with no film connection, none of my classmates are interested in pursuing a career like film, my school offers no film courses, and I have no film connection currently. Surely I sound like a poor fit for the Hollywood Reporter’s top film school, you may even wonder why I, without a single connection, would choose this field. Hopeful it may be understood me more through my background.
Everyone has thought at one point or another, "My life is so interesting; it should be a movie." Some may especially think that in the hustle and bustle of Field Week. This year, Marian along with producer, Tom Elkins is making that subconscious thought a reality.
The health of our nation is an important topic that has been discussed for many years. It is no surprise that much of what contributes to illness such as heart disease and obesity is the consumption of sugar and junk foods. This is a simple fact that is widely known, but the government still feels the need to step in when it comes to controlling the population’s eating habits. Unfortunately, simply recognizing that something is bad is not always enough to deter someone from indulging. When it comes to our nation’s dietary habits, it is clear that some people may need assistance in making better choices and that is why the health and fitness industry is so big. At the end of the day, it is up to every individual to make their own choices whether

First and foremost, the way I pick movies have changed. I am now a little more open to watching an older, black and white film. I am also more likely to select a foreign film with subtitles. However, I still have a hard time picking films that aren’t critically acclaimed. I am more willing to watch a black and white film but only if it is directed by Alfred Hitchcock or Orson Welles. The same goes for foreign films. I have also changed the way I analyze films. Now when I critically looks at a movie I find that I judge a movie based on more than the story and acting. I will looks and what goes on to getting that shot or how hard it must’ve been to edit some of the scenes. I think that it has made me a little more lenient when I review a movie. In the past I would think a movie wasn’t good if I didn’t like the story but now I can look past things and judge it by the cinematography and set design. I think I have started to understand that film is an art form and deserves to be treated more carefully than most people treat it. I now understand just how hard it is to make and be a part of a movie. I am still working on fixing my flaws as a viewer and I believe that it will come as I take the time to view more
Going to the movies offers a complete escape from everyday life for a few hours at a time. In movies, a story can usually be told from beginning to end in a short period of time. Movies allow a person to get completely wrapped ...
“Entertainment has to come hand in hand with a little bit of medicine, some people go to the movies to be reminded that everything’s okay. I don’t make those kinds of movies. That, to me, is a lie. Everything’s not okay.” - David Fincher. David Fincher is the director that I am choosing to homage for a number of reasons. I personally find his movies to be some of the deepest, most well made, and beautiful films in recent memory. However it is Fincher’s take on story telling and filmmaking in general that causes me to admire his films so much. This quote exemplifies that, and is something that I whole-heartedly agree with. I am and have always been extremely opinionated and open about my views on the world and I believe that artists have a responsibility to do what they can with their art to help improve the culture that they are helping to create. In this paper I will try to outline exactly how Fincher creates the masterpieces that he does and what I can take from that and apply to my films.
Today, romance is one of the most popular genres to watch on television. Unlike most, romance is a genre where the plot revolves around the love between two main characters as they experience the highs and lows of love. “Common themes that revolve around romantic movies are kissing, love at first sight, tragic love, destructive love, and sentimental love” (Taylor). These themes appear in many historical films and the pattern still continues in modern films as well. Watching romantic movies has a giant negative influence on the viewer's analysis of what love and relationships should really be like. These films give the wrong impression of reality when it comes to dating, marriage, having children, and even how to manage a relationship in the first place. Even though romantic movies are commonly watched, there are many effects on personal real-life relationships after watching these types of films.
I’ve seen a lot of films, and with a lot of different genres. But I don’t think that romantic films are pretty good. They are too boring. The good films are action or comedy films, but the best films are action and com-edy films mixed together. That’s why I’ve chosen the film Taxi 2. It’s a French produced film, with a lot of action and comedy. It’s a pretty new film, and I saw it in the cinema last month. I’ve looked very much forward to see that film, because Taxi was very good too. It took only 5 weeks to get 10 mil-lion Frenchmen into the cinema. Just for watching Taxi 2.
