Championship weekend featured four of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, two of which who could be considered the best of all-time. In the league today, you have to get great play from your quarterbacks, that much was proven in the postseason. But when you look at who made the Super Bowl, what do you see? Fantastic defenses, with smothering secondaries, and hellacious pass rushes. The Panthers and the Broncos have fantastic quarterbacks, but the defenses are what got both teams to the Super Bowl.

The Broncos Defense

This defense has been a special unit all year, as it finished first in total defense. It is anchored by the best secondary in the league, with Aqib Talib, Chris Harris Jr., and Bradly Roby holding down the corner spots, and T.J. Ward and Darian Stewart manning the safety positions.

Aqib Talib are two of the best corners in the entire league, and Bradly Roby is no slouch. T.J. Ward is becoming the most feared strong safety outside of Cam Chancellor, with his crushing hits discouraging any receiver who dares to go over the middle of the field. That's how many turnovers the Panthers defense forced on Sunday against the Cardinals. SEVEN. Against the top offense in the regular season. The Panthers defense is good, but I didn't think it was that good. But I saw one of the best defensive performances ive seen all season, and the numbers they have posted this season don't lie; thay have been great.

The secondary has been depleted, yet the Panthers still manage to boast one of the better passing defenses in all of football. Led by cornerback Josh Norman and safety Roman Harper, the Panthers held their own through the air, and actually led the league in interceptions with twenty four. Norman can shut down half of the field, so that leaves three players to shutdown the other half. That makes defense very hard to throw against. But the secondary is not what scared
