Best Man Wedding Speech
Its turning out to be a day packed full new experiences for me. It’s the first time I’ve had the honour of being a best man, It’s the first time that Brandon has complimented me in over 30 years, and it’s the first time I’ve got a free dinner out of him since that kebab he bought me back in 93. So far things have been going pretty well…until now. Start the car Steve.
Ladies, Gentlemen, boys, girls Brandon and Lisa,
First of all, let me begin on behalf of the bridesmaids, Michelle, Ellie, Hannah and Emily, I would like to thank Brandon for his kind words, and I have to say they look absolutely wonderful and have done an excellent job today.
The great thing about being a best man, which incidentally is short for best Brandon can manage, is that you get to paint a picture of the man whom Lisa has just committed the rest of her life to.
A man is best described through his actions and despite having known Brandon for nearly thirty years now I think I could probably describe all of his actions within the next five minutes.
Not that he is lazy, far from it, rather than be a jack of all trades he prefers to carefully focus his efforts
When asked once in the pub what where his favourite hobbies and pastimes, after serious thought and consideration he replied, ‘I quite like sitting’.
So here before us is a man who dedicates his free time to the conservation of energy and the en...

... a few words of worldly advice. Being a bachelor myself, this has proved a bit too difficult for me, so I asked my mum and dad how they managed over 40 years of wedded bliss.
My Mom said: Lisa a man is like a tiled floor - lay it right first time and you can spend years walking all over it!
And from my Dad: Jus the best way to remember your anniversary is to forget just once!
I apologise if those jokes are a bit old but then so are my parents!
If my throat was dry when I started this speech its even drier now, and I can think of no better remedy than to drink to the health, wealth and eternal happiness of the newlyweds.
So please raise your glasses to drink a toast to Brandon and Lisa Haterson.
It is customary for the best man to retell an embarrassing tale or two from the bridegroom’s past. As Gary’s oldest friend, this part of the speech fell to me. However, I had two problems with this. Firstly, Gary originally insisted on vetting the speech, which would have meant me going to the trouble of preparing two speeches. Luckily, he relented. Secondly, Gary is the original Mr. Nice Guy and it's very difficult to think of anything bad to say about him. So, back to you Steve!
When the groom asked me to be his best man, I consulted the Internet for help. I discovered that the job is essentially comprised of four main tasks:
As is customary I should leave the groom with wise words, to help in your marriage. Since I am a bachelor, I have little experience to speak from, but I hope these help anyway:
Firstly, on behalf of the bridesmaids, I'd like to thank the groom for his kind words, and I have to say they have done an excellent job today and look absolutely wonderful.
Ladies and Gentlemen – I’ll start by thanking Brian on behalf of the bridesmaids for his kind words.
On June 27, 2015, my entire life flashed before my eyes. I never could have anticipated what that particular day had in store for me and my best friend, Virginia. It was the day after my birthday and I felt the excitement built up in my chest as we drove to Charleston, South Carolina to celebrate on the beach. It was our last summer together before we both headed off to college and all I hoped for were a few last joyful moments spent soaking up the sun before we had to part ways. I thought the trip would be unforgettable, and I was right.
Finally, on behalf of the bride and groom I would like to thank everyone for sharing their special day, it is a true millstone - sorry milestone in their lives. On behalf of myself I wish you'd all stayed at home - as things would have been a lot easier on me. I started planning this speech about 5 months ago and I expect you all feel like I've been delivering it equally as long. But now it gives me immense pleasure (not to mention relief) to invite you to all stand and raise your glasses in a toast to John and Angie. To love, laughter and happily ever after. To John and Angie CONGRATULATIONS
Before I start I would like to say that Madonna you look absolutely stunning, Erik, well you just look stunned.
Robert Frost is one of America’s most loved and respected poets. He did a great job capturing the hearts of his readers with his natural imagery and ability to use metaphors to reveal the truths that he was trying to convey. Frost’s life was filled with many struggles including several losses in his family. His early struggles would continue through his educational period, as he wouldn’t graduate from college. Frost traveled to Great Britain to gain some ideas on poetry, and then returned the America to begin writing again (Famous Poets and Poems 1). He would have great successes, and would win numerous awards and honors for his work. The purpose of this research project is to educate the reader of Robert Frost’s biographical information, his career as a writer, the awards and honors that he was able to obtain, and Frost’s writing style.
Robert Frost is one of the few twentieth century poets to receive critical acclaim and popular acceptance (Magill 728). His simplistic style appeals to the novice and expert poetry reader alike. Robert Frost's understated emotional appeal attracts readers of all literary levels. Frost develops subtly stated emotions and a clever use of imagery in his poetry. Influences on his poetry include his family, work, and other life experiences (Oxford 267). Frost also works to develop iambic pentameter using simple language, in an attempt to effectively portray the New England lifestyle (Magill 723). Frost successfully blends classic poetry and a modern simplicity to create a new generation of poetry lovers.
Robert Frost was an American poet, and playwright who became one of the leading pioneers in poetry in the late 1800’s into the 1900’s. Frost grew up in rural New England in the early twentieth century and experienced many hardships in his life including losing his father at the young age of eleven and losing two children at very young ages. He used his experiences of growing up in a rural area in most of his poems. Another major them in his poems are decision-making poems usually based off of his own life. This is a huge them in his poems because Frost always wondered what would have happened if he decided doing something other than writing poetry in his life. He always wondered how his life would be different and it shows in his poems such as “The Road Not Taken.”
Ladies and gentlemen, thanks Gary for those kind words. It has been a pleasure for all us attendants to play a small part in your big day. Before I say a word or two about the groom, what about that dress Jeanie is wearing? It has attracted so much favorable comment from the guests here that I have to give it a special mention. You look stunning Jeanie!
And, on behalf of the bridesmaids, I’d like to thank Anthony for his kind words. I certainly agree that they did a great job today.
Robert Frost’s poems are well liked because they work on so many different levels; on the surface they are stories about the beauty of nature, while deeper down they are journeys in finding ones self and more. Robert Frost is an American poet who was born in San Francisco. His poems reflect rural life and is one of America's best known poets. Through his works he uses symbolism and nature to show man in search of self.
Often called the most popular American poet of the twentieth century, Robert Frost achieved a worldwide reputation as a major poet early in his career. He and his family spent three years in England, where he published his first two collections of poetry, A Boy’s Will and North of Boston. Initially uncertain about the reception he would receive in the United States, he returned to New England in 1915 to find that his poetry had gained massive popularity among Americans. Frost’s poetry continues to claim a place in the hearts of today’s readers. If asked to name a poet, many would name Robert Frost. Elementary school children learn “The Road Not Taken” and “Mending Wall”. Frost’s poetry earned and keeps its popularity due to its appeal to a wide range of readers. Even those who don’t often read poetry can find something to enjoy. At first glance, Frost writes simply about nature, but beneath the beautiful imagery lays deeper meaning. Frost uses nature to convey his messages, some of which reflect the ideas of the earlier Romantic writers, such as the love of nature and the distrust of industry. While Robert Frost expresses beliefs shared by writers of the Romantic Period, he also describes his own ideas about love, death, and interpersonal relationships.
