In the epic poem of Beowulf there are many themes that can be pulled out of this story. The translator Burton Raffel did a great god reinterpreting the original writer of this poem. The way he expresses these themes is nothing less than excellent. The name of this epic poem is Beowulf. The main characters in this poem are the hero Beowulf, the monsters Grendel and his mother,the king of Herot Hrothgar,and the ancient dragon who guards the treasure. The story starts out with Herot being terrorized by the monster Grendel. Once Beowulf hears of this he embarks on a journey to defeat this monster. once the monster is decapitated his mother seeks revenge on Beowulf.Beowulf then becomes king and slays a dragon in order to get the treasure that it
