The most important part of the entire trip to the Moon was the spacesuit. Even though Neil Armstrong’s spacesuit may not be as famous as the man who wore it, it still brought technological advancement to the future, and helpful ways to stay alive on an unknown planet. When Neil was on the moon, the only thing keeping him alive was his spacesuit. ILC engineers and textile designers invented and created a hand tailored, and crafted spacesuit that was primarily just for the trip to the Moon. This suit was built on the success and unsuccessful suits that were worn in the Gemini program.
Ever since the Cold War, humanity has been exploring outer space and breaking new boundaries. We have made countless of discoveries by traveling space and will continue to make more in the future. Traditionally NASA, which is run by the government, has been in charge of all of our country’s space travel. However, over the years the government has lowered funding for NASA, limiting them on what they can do. Also NASA currently depends on Russia to send people to the International Space Station, and we pay a large price for a seat.
Now on the other hand, the symbolic interactionism really shows itself in not just the rescue mission or space program itself, but involving everyone throughout the entire film. Symbolic interactionism determines how we place importance on things in life and how we form our opinions and priorities. Walking on the moon was the most important thing to Jim Lovell early in the film. However as events unfolded, Jim realized the real importance was life itself and his family and crew. Again, without symbols, Jim’s family wouldn’t have meant as much to him and he may have disregarded them altogether.
Recently, NASA has been spending billions of dollars in researching our second nearest planet, Mars. In understanding the scientific importance that such research can mean, the United States is justified in spending this money on NASA space missions to Mars. President John F. Kennedy said in 1961 that he believed that the United States could put a man on the moon before the end of the decade. Unfortunately, he never lived to see this prophetic feat performed. But in July of 1969, Neil Armstrong stepped foot on the moon before live audiences around the world.
Ranger 7 marked a turning point in America's exploration of space. Af... ... middle of paper ... ...tes and the Soviet Union to see who could make the furthest development into space first. Creating NASA that lead to build new technologies during the Space Race, was proved because it helped U.S protect itself and today it still affect us in being able to accomplish our dreams. From President Kennedy’s contribution to the program to building Ranger Missions and Rockets Programs made America one of the most powerful and advanced country in the world. The Space Race not just only created shuttles, it created things we used now on daily basis like water purification, chemical detection, solar cells, and many more.
Much of the generation from the 1960’s may remember how inspired they felt by NASA’s ambition to do something as amazing as walk on the moon. Today, that inspiration is found in many smaller; yet still significant, creations for NASA programs. Somebody once dreamed of capturing an asteroid, and now NASA strives to make that dream come true. For those people who stare at the sky and question the twinkling lights blinking at them, NASA endeavors to study the more advanced systems of stars by using Pluto as a scale model. Simply because they promote better inventions, encourage creative dreams, and produce new actualities, NASA programs are worth every penny and Americans need to reconsider where they would be without NASA.
As humans our desire to visit space has never ceased, but our scientific advances have so far only allowed manned visits to the moon. There are many political factors that influence the ongoing attempts to engineer space tourism and future missions to Mars, which has been in the works since the twentieth century. High costs and risks involved in spaceflight due to the longevity in space and the effects of cosmic rays have been many of the setbacks in making it a reality. The United States is currently unable to conduct human spaceflight after losing its capability to launch upon the retirement of the space shuttle in 2011. China National Space Administration and Russia Federal Space Agency are the only two government facilities that continue sending humans to space.
Along with the inscription on the plaque placed at the point of the landing ("we came in peace for all mankind"), Armstrong's words are often enough to bring tears to the eyes of nearly every American and indeed much of the world. As great an accomplishment as man's landing on the moon is, however, there are other momentous events that often seem forgotten in the glare of celebrity afforded to the space program's manned missions. How many people can remember where they were when the first man-made object left the bounds of our solar system? How many people can even remember what that object was? It was the Pioneer X spacecraft, and it left the solar system in mid-1987 without much fanfare.
These are only some of the prominent discoveries made a group of intellectuals aboard the Internation Space Station (ISS). This band of people uses the unique aspects of outer space such as zero gravity to perform and uncover new information about medicine (Ferrell). This technology helped to remove forty to sixty percent of Stevie’s body heat and changed his life forever (Woodfill). By being in a very technologically advanced era, scientists can invent revolutionary devices never thought of.
Now, living in the 21st century has taught me how fortunate we are to witness the new inventions and discoveries created by NASA to explore outer space. Space agencies, such as NASA, has taught us how the Earth really looks and has led to new inventions that contribute to our lives. During these past few years of space discoveries, many people have argued against spending money on investing space explorations and have claimed it to be a waste of money. It's a shame that these people think space is just a waste of money when really, it's a contribution to our life and an essential realization of how we can expand our world. Space exploration should get priority funding because it will benefit education, jobs, and informs us of natural disasters.
