The standards of consumption for people at present are growing rapidly in Sydney. Due to its great enhancement of consuming level, it attracts many transnational retail corporations enter into the market. However, short shopping hours in Sydney become a problem, usually around 8hours per day. Thus, extending shopping hours may bring some benefits. Although there are many critics who argue against the benefits, it cannot be denied that more shopping hours is necessary for the development of the city, since it brings convenience in life, growth of the economy and image of Sydney as an international metropolis.
Extending shopping time is beneficial because it make the life more convenient. Consumers are more untrammeled to do shopping because

Workers are necessary to work for longer hours as the business is open until that time. For some workers, this is necessary as they need more money to improve their lives especially if they have many children. Longer shopping hours leads to more consumption. Consumption is one of the most significant parts of the whole economy as it encouraged the business to produce or to sell goods and services. As the level of consumption increases, the wages or salaries for the workers may increase as well due to their good performance at their work. High level of consumption benefits the business because the business can make profit and push the economy further. Due to the increase in profit, they are more willing to produce and sell; therefore, they may provide more job opportunities in the labour market. Employment usually increases after better shopping hours are introduced. According to this, the employment rate increases and there will be higher levels of household income and consumption. Evidence from the rest of Australia and overseas shows that extended shopping hours increased economic activity levels to more jobs across the economy. Although an Acnielsen survey published that 51% of male and 44% of female believe that work hours determine their sleep schedules, the workers need to work to shoulder their family. Even though the business may be greedy to sacrifice the public garden in order to build more shopping malls to make profits, maybe such cases are rare because of the government. Extending shopping time benefits both workers and business to increase their revenue and improve their life
Best Buy operates in an oligopolistic market where there are significant barriers to entry and few large firms dominate the market by selling identical goods. Best Buy is a non-collusive oligopolist, existing in a strategic environment where firms do not cooperate, yet are interdependent due to the fact that a firm’s action affects the market. Recently, Best Buy experienced an increase in demand, increasing its revenues and profits.
For the holidays, mostly every store changes their store hours. Instead of opening at a decent time in the morning, 10am, throughout the week most stores open as early at 6am and close at 11pm. Even on Sunday “the day of rest,” most stores change their hours. Employers have to wake up even earlier and stay even later, to try to clean up the mess that was left behind. You would think on the weekend people would like to sleep in late because they wake up early during the week to go to their job, but instead they wake up early and head out the door.
Companies foster these strategies to achieve goals in marketing and to profit from shoppers drive. I think that people shop more and more with retailers expanding their business everywhere. As Gladwell article “The Science of Shopping” comment on shoppers behaviors the moment they enter the store they start browsing, also comment on shoppers being right handed simply because they go to right after walking in. shoppers spend abundance of time in store focusing on detail what to buy and to get out of best shopping journey they could have. During the time I spend reading and targeting on The Power of Habit why we do what we do in life and business, a realization come to light that we are control by habits and we as a shoppers get to try a new things and to have the finest shopping experience businesses encouraging shoppers what to do as leaving Stater

Shift Work: The introduction of shift work mainly depends on safety and productivity of the workers being maintained. However, evidence suggests that safety and productivity of workers may decline at night shifts with more hours on duty between breaks. The shift work system can be improved by introducing more rest breaks (Folkard & Tucker 2003).
Australia swears to exist as a nation of democracy, yet disappoints its growing generation. A recent poll shows that 82% of Australians support the compensation for working outside the usual working week- which is a ridiculously high number. Australian youths that are taking part in the workforce, are also juggling the struggles of studying, maintaining a healthy social life, fitness etc. Therefore taking up more hours at work will heighten stress and cause further complications in their lifestyle.
It is a unique technique As technology gets more advanced, people use cameras, tracking devices in the stores to track customers shopping behavior. The retailers apply every detail that they get from anthropologists to get people to buy their products. Some people claim that the surveillance of consumers by retail anthropologists is manipulative and unethical. However, the claim is not entirely true. Many retailers use the data they get from anthropologists and apply it to their store to create great experiences for their customers, encourage customers to revisit, and ultimately improve business performance.
Many people have a compulsive shopping disorder. However, some person’s compulsive shopping disorder effects their daily lives.
Today, with businesses facing increasingly competitive markets and unprecedented customer demands for services, the employment of workers in shifts to cover a 24-hour day is increasing. In fact, one in five workers is hired to work outside the typical 9-to-5 time slot ("No More Nine-to-Five" 1998). Manufacturing companies have traditionally operated day and night, often to capitalize on equipment usage. However, many other types of companies are now offering their services around the clock, e.g., financial services, 24-hou...
Consumer culture plays a key role in the economy. Today, the ways in which urban spaces are arranged facilitate the consumption of goods. One only needs to look to modern cities such as New York, London or Tokyo in order to recognise the countless forms of advertisement intended to lure the mass population into spending money on various merchandises, from novelty items to luxury products. The use of built structures to facilitate the display of retail products for the consumption of the masses is nothing new. After its renovation, Paris became a model innovative city planning and construction for a lot of modern cities that exist today. The wide boulevards and open spaces engaged the mass population and encouraged consumerism.
Initially, from economic point of view there some advantages will be grabbed. For instances, more job options will be available. Furthermore, there is some part-time and casual job vastly vacant. Fulltime workers will also gain more money since the payment hourly. At the same way, the stores that stay up late will also get the same chances, to earn more money, as fulltime workers. The most important considerable by extending business hours, it will open a broad chance for international investors to come to South Australia. Consequently, all the matters that have mentioned above will benefit the government by earning more taxes. As the result, it will raise up living standard and better public facilities in South Australia.
To what extent are people willing to buy what they want over what they need, for the sake of feeding their addiction? Imagine this, a girl wakes up in the morning, brushes her teeth, dresses up, takes the car, drives through highway 75, and then reaches the destination that she has been dreaming of, North Park Mall. She roams the aisles of the mall; at first, it 's window-shopping. While looking at the beautiful window displays, she fidgets thriving for more, and more. The girl can’t control herself; her legs pull her to enter one of the luxurious stores, Gucci. While her eyes wonder at the exquisite shawls, the saleswoman interrupts her by showing her a purse, a ring, and then a dress. The girl leaves the store having spent around 5,000 dollars. She wakes up the next day, and does the same routine but with a different store. By the end of the month, the girl has spent five times the rent of her apartment, three times her gasoline bill, and ten times her grocery shopping costs. This routine is how a shopaholic functions every day. Therefore, people with lower self-esteem are more likely to be victims of being a shopaholic.
According to Martinez – Ruiz et al (2010) states, in this modern age customers are always on the look for their conveniences. For this the researcher has used some of the elements such as; membership card, parking lots, and children’s area. For example, the availability of parking lots in the hypermarket can provide convenience for customer who has a car thus leading to positive impact on the customer satisfaction. Membership card can provide customers with special promotions, offers and discounts.
Every minutes saved means less time waiting and more satisfaction to the customers. This would also encourage a first time buyer to become repeat customers.
In conclusion, e-commerce makes our life much more easier, because it saves time, we can get our goods with in a short period of time, other than that it connects to businesses around the world, we can buy goods that we can’t get from the local market. The last thing we also can get goods that are not available in the shopping mall and with the cheaper price. As I know, using e-commerce to shop online is the right choice for because it is so convenient.
