The EHR allows healthcare providers to post patient information in different ways of electronic formats instead of on paper. The transition is challenging but there are many more benefits to heatlhcare providers than staying with paper records. Benefits include: Reducing the burdens of managing paper. This is the ability for authorized users to access patient records from any approved location at any time. It also includes multiple users to have access to the same record at the same time. This will have an impact on a medical coder in productivity and working conditions, Coders can fall behind in their work because they have to wait to code the records that have been removed by someone else. With EHR's codes will have necessary access at anytime to all information needed to do their job. The interoperability of EHR's also advances the possibility of remote coding. The coder will still be assigning codes from ICD-10 and CPT codes, except they will be able to do their job from home.
