As far back as I was a kid, I was shown three things: to serve, to love and to be appreciative. These are the standards that shape the center of my life and effects the choices I make today. As such, I would like to address you on the matter of being thankful. I pay heed to most things that occurs around me and the people who are responsible for making it a reality. I recall walking along a street in Spanish Town. It was loaded with refuse but the following morning it was clean. This was the means by which it was day by day. I would leave a dirty area to wake up to it being cleaned. Our society mostly highlights and lauds the people who stroll in tux and heels while minimal light is shed on the ones who really made those fancies. What I am trying to say here is that we should not only show appreciation for people working in high tech, “high skilled” jobs. We need to also show it to people who work in all aspects of a functioning society. Whether it is picking the food that winds up on our kitchen tables, serving espresso, building houses or washing our car windows, every individual contributes to the development of our communities and our economy. This is why I write to you. I wish to recognize and acknowledge individuals who clean our space after we abandon it repulsive. Our plan is to have either a Lyme or Brunch for them. On this day, we will award them with certificates of appreciation for their service to Spanish Town, wet their palettes with food and have various entertainment and activities lined up for them to enjoy. We intend to invite few schools from all educational levels (Basic, Primary and High School) as well as businesses within the area to be a part of this initiative. They will contribute to the day by dedicating an item in song, poetry, sign, dance or drama concentrating on the significance, the regard and our appreciation for street cleaners. This is an occasion we are wanting to sort out for the year 2018 in the month of January or February. In any case, we want an ambitious start with this goal so that we can get things done so as to make this day conceivable and in addition to accumulate bolster from you and different entities.
