In this paper, the issue of confronting my own dying will be presented. I will present how being hooked to machines or other gadgets will not be a way that I would like to end my last days on earth. I will provide specific reasons why I would not like to be hooked to machines the last days of my life along with some vivid example I had with people who were dying. Just to think about the process of dying is something that makes people uncomfortable, never-the-less to think about how we will be living the last days of our lives. In my case, I am afraid of being hooked to machines or gadgets when I die. I visit hospitals when my friends get or family members get sick, and I see how people are connected to machines just waiting to take their last breath. I had the opportunity to see a friend dying in the hospital. He was hooked to machines and complained that it hurt while he was conscience; he was suffering a lot because it was painful for him. He was not able to eat by himself, and he had to depend on the nurses to be putting food through a hose. This experience opened my eyes and I ask God to allow me to die in peace without being hooked to machines because I saw the process and the suffering that it causes to individuals like my friend, but also the pain it causes to the family. Seeing my friends suffering made me think about the importance of being healthy. I discovered that there is nothing more precious than dying without having to depend on machines that at the end, the only thing it does is to keep you alive until the family members decide to let you go. I believe that if people who are hooked to machines would know in advance that it is the way they are going to die, they would ask their family members to disconnect them as soon as they are considered a
