The rewards of becoming an effective attorney/lawyer can be profited in both personal and business aspects. A competent attorney can be seen as one who is knowledgeable of criminal law and legal procedures, maintains sufficient up-to-date training and knowledge, and establishes and maintains a meaningful Attorney-client relationship.
Attorneys are portrayed as dependable, disciplined, and loyal people with extraordinary marketable skills. Marketable skills are useful skills that make an employer want to hire an individual as an employee. These skills also play a role in sharpening critical thinking skills and allowing he or she to observe and analyze different personality traits. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual earnings of lawyers in the United States were $112,760, in May 2010. By comparison, the median income for all other occupations was $33,840. The top ten percent of lawyers earned more than $166,400. The BLS also indicates that agents who become partners in law firms tend to receive more than solo practitioners. Lawyers are among the highest paid professionals in the legal industry, and most attorneys earn salaries well above the national average. (Kane, 2014) In addition to obtaining and maintaining a lucrative earning potential and the gaining of advantageous marketable skills, the aspect of serving others and creating an impact on their lives is most enjoyable. Attorneys are in a unique position to help individuals, groups, and organizations with their legal problems and further the public good. (Kane, 2014)
Individuals turn to attorneys for help in times of need. Individuals charged with a crime or who need advice on handling personal or business legal issues rely on lawyers to help them achieve a satisfactory resolution of his or her predicament. If a satisfaction is gained from helping others who are experiencing difficulties, becoming an attorney can be emotionally rewarding.
