As more and more buildings and towers are being built the demand for welders and fabricators are higher, I personally believe that everyone should learn at least the basics for welding in school, because you may never know when you would need to repair something that you can't just bolt together. In the past decade there have been more educational opportunities for being a Welder or Fabricator. When applying for a job for welding or any other career employer will be looking for people that may have past working experience or experience with different practices and machines,tools, and other things that you would use on the job. While applying for a job some employer might ask for proof or evidence that you know what you are doing. During high school or when you start welding you will want to practice working on the same thing over and over then switching things up which in most cases may helping you with some experience, like how i did when i started welding. Another type of welding is”Tig welding” which is when a electrode such as aluminum or tungsten that is melted with a strong torch or electrical arc. Another type of welding is “Mig welding” that is when you have a spool of wire and a inert gas such as argon or Co2 which acts as an insulator for the arc that is created in order to weld a bead. There are many more types of welding that you can learn when you are studying to become a welder or fabricator. Pipe welding is a career that does not require any college education but keep in mind this type of work is definitely no walk in the park. Pipeline rigs are typically located in rural areas, so pipeline welders often have to travel to reach the work site (Browne). Pipe welders are required to work through all types of weather in regard to the season and where you are stationed (Browne) To Begin pipe welding one usually must pass a welding exam and safety test for proper certification (Dye). In my opinion pipe welding can be an extremely discomforting occupation, because they normally spend long periods of time away from families; often several months at a time. One big factor that plays a role on this key point is the different fumes that can be inhaled. Between a combination of welding fumes such as argon, carbon, tungsten, and when welding stainless steel I may also have to worry about chromium. All of these different fumes can cause many health problems later down the road such as lung problems (AFSCME). We have been living in a generation with retired welders in their 50’s and 60’s who have an extremely high increase in medical problems due to their careers as welders (BOC). “Sometimes one may receive specific warnings after breathing or inhaling different fumes. For instance if enough zinc fumes are inhaled expect to experience metal fume fever; symptoms may include night sweats, chills, and stomach pains”

I am going to go for there 40 week program to get as many certifications that I can get so I can get paid more in the career and I am doing it so it looks better on my application.
