1. Many people have multiple reasons why they want to be able to help others in their everyday jobs. My attraction to being a Speech Language Pathologist is because I want to be able to people overcome their speech problems. As a Speech Language Pathologist I want to be able to help people that have speech problems, overcome this problem and be able to be independent without needing the help of myself or other people that are trying to talk to them. I personally know their feelings and have actually been in their shoes to know how frustrating life can be trying to talk and have someone else talk for you. The one person in my life that has influenced my decision to consider being a Speech Language Pathologist is my own Speech Language Pathologist and my mother. My main motivation for being a helper is the fact that by working with children, later on in life theses children will know that they have someone to come to in the future, for any reason. I would be considered to be an informal helper if I was just talking to them as a friend, but with my job being a Speech Language Pathologist, I would also be considered a physical helper as well. When I was a young child, I had a physical helper, who was my doctor and my Speech Language Pathologist. When it came to me having problems with my parents getting mad because they couldn’t understand me, I would go talk to my Speech Language Pathologist about how to resolve these problems. I would I also have my informal helpers which was my friends, hairstylist, and my family. I would just talk to these people on a daily basis because we all lived in the same town, and because they cared about me. All these people helped me get through some of the worst time in my life, but they also made me have so many good things happen to me. Seeing all these people do those little things for me made me want to be able to do the same for anyone that needs a friend or someone to be there to guide
