It is fourth down on the opponents five yard line, as my teammates and I get into the huddle and receive a play call from our head coach on the sidelines. I knew the ball would be ran right behind me, as my coach trusted my skills for getting our team into the end zone. I could remember going up to the line and grabbing the ball before snapping it to my quarterback. I could remember the animalistic smell of the leather, the coarse feel of the ball, and the smell of the dirt. The crowd was thunderous and energized. They cheered with such passion. I could hear my opponents breathing down onto the ground as we readied for the snap of the ball. It challenges you everyday, in everyway possible. The most difficult thing about being a leader is that nobody sits you down to educate you in how to grow to be a great leader. For me, this characteristic comes naturally. With being a leader, numerous people look up too you, not only colleagues, but family and friends as well. That is because when you are born a leader, people are drawn towards you. You must have many qualities to become a great leader, and they do not come naturally. They come from hard work, persistence, and determination in everything that you do. You must have the flexibility to deal with situations that are out of your comfort zone. Not everything you do will go as planned, and you must be able to react and adapt to situations that do not go your way. A true leader will come out better than before, and will always learn a new lesson. You must have immeasurable communication skills, not only to have everyday conversations, but also to have conversations to help people, and direct people, and to show people your personal strengths and character through your communication to help them better themselves. This skill is arduous to come by, but if harnessed correctly it could be your greatest weapon. The courage of a leader some say is the most important facet of their character. A leader must have courage in ones self to stand alone amidst the fire. The courage that any leader possesses is disparate because they must always show their face of courage, even when they do not want to.
