The computer network configuration and use needs to be analyzed in order to support the needs of Bead Bar for future planning and upgrading of Bead Bar’s system, especially when a distributed database is involved. With a distributed database, all of Bead Bar’s computers will need to be connected through a telecommunications system. The computer network is going to be a critical component of Bead Bar’s information system. The reason for the computer network being a critical component is that it will determine the way the company unfolds in the future and how it will unfold as new locations and features are added to the Bead Bar infrastructure.

Throughout this report, I will discuss recommendations for a network topology that should be used, the network architecture, and the advantages and drawbacks that the network will provide for the organization. These advantages and drawbacks will not only affect the company but they will also affect the customer and the way the clientele corresponds with the company.

Bead Bar has spent a great deal of money and time in designing and making their stores look good, so having wiring run everywhere in a disorganized fashion in order to connect the computers to the telecommunications system is not going to be feasible because it has an impact on the way customers view Bead Bar’s company. This is why it is so important for Bead Bar’s networking system to function at its most effective level with as little complication as possible while maintaining a positive appearance to its customers and efficient customer service, which is a goal that management of Bead Bar has for the company.

There are different parts of Bead Bar that exist and will benefit a great degree from the addition of a network system. These parts of Bead Bar include the following: finance with Julia as the Chief Financial Officer, marketing which will allow Miriam to collect sales data from multiple studios, purchasing that will be made a simpler process with a network, and human resources which will allow the Director of Human Resources to communicate will employees on a whole new level. This will also improve employee’s ability to perform their jobs, improving customer service.

These areas might as well run separate from the company without having a more direct communication with the system. Currently the company has no way for each location to communicate effectively with others or each area and thus creates a gap in the accessibility of information.
