Author Jeffrey S. Beasley book on “Networking” will provide Northeastern Health Service Inc. with acceptable configuration on connecting all offices on a Local Area Network. Additionally, this section provides valuable information on networking equipment, capabilities of potentially implemented hardware, as well as types of compatible software for maximizing connection configurations. Lastly, this section will also inform Northeastern Health Service Inc. with networking segmentation, discuss the process by which networking systems communicate, and the potential issues that may rise.
Selection and set-up of the network is necessary to the success of this project. A Client/Server network is needed to implement through a TCP/IP protocol. Each site functions as a local area network linked together as a wide area network. Users having access to the system can exchange information instantly.
Local Area Networks also called LANs have been a major player in industrialization of computers. In the past 20 or so years the worlds industry has be invaded with new computer technology. It has made such an impact on the way we do business that it has become essential with an ever-growing need for improvement. LANs give an employer the ability to share information between computers with a simple relatively inexpensive system of network cards and software. It also lets the user or users share hardware such as Printers and scanners. The speed of access between the computers is lighting fast because the data has a short distance to cover. In most cases a LAN only occupies one or a group of buildings located next to each other. For larger area need there are several other types of networks such as the Internet.
The Bead Bar is a company that creates bead jewelry. The bead Bar is a hands on company that allows its customers to create their own jewelry. BRJ Consulting was contracted by the Bead Bar to assist in determining information technology needs. The Bead Bar is an arts and crafts oriented company that enables its customers to design and make their own jewelry with wires, beads, and strings. There currently exist three divisions in the company spread throughout the United States: six (6) studios, five (5) franchises, and the Bead Bar on Board which is a portable Bead Bar designed for cruise ships. The Bead Bar has outgrown its paper-based system and is in need of an upgrade in today's technology; the poor efficiency of the Bead Bar's present system limits potential growth opportunities in today's global business market. Over the past several decades, advances in technology have been staggering. Two companies in particular are internationally recognizable for their mission and vision in technology. Nortel’s mission was to “create a high-performance 21st century communications company driven by empowered employees with a passion for delighting customers and driving business results” ("Nortel", 2007). At one point in history, Nortel was serving nine out of ten Fortune 500 companies. Their vision included a commitment to power innovative technology to solve problems and create opportunities for their customers. Their main goal is to achieve this was through a concept known as hyper-connectivity in which “anything that can be connected to the network will be connected- encompassing person-to-person communication, person-to-machine, and machine-to-machine” (“Nortel”, 2007).
The United States has been a breeding ground for many of the major developments in the realm of internetworking. With the releases of these technologies come practical applications for them in the consumer world. Once computer networks became affordable for the general public, the World Wid...

Huffman Trucking has offices paired with plants in four states: California, Missouri, New Jersey, and Ohio. Huffman has grown both organically and through acquisition. The tremendous growth experienced by the company has also shined the light on some growing pains. Each of the four locations have independently managed networks including telephony which has resulted in disconnected systems that require independent investment for upgrades, support, and maintenance and lacks the ability to leverage investments across the organization. The end result includes multiple proprietary telephony platforms and gateways that leave the organization unable to reduce overhead cost in this area. There is some good news found in some levels of common platforms among several locations. The focus of this paper will be to identify the common strengths regarding the types of systems, define the physical extent of the systems, and describe the services available. In addition opportunities to leverage existing investments and reduce cost will be identified.
Over the past few years, Internet-enabled business, or e-business, has drastically improved efficiency and revenue growth. E-business applications such as e-commerce, supply-chain management, and remote access allow companies to streamline processes, lower operating costs, and increase customer satisfaction. Such applications require mission-critical networks that accommodate voice, video, and data traffic, and these networks must be scalable to support increasing numbers of users and the need for greater
