There are many battles that took place during World War II. Some of these battles might be easy for people to remember because of how they contributed to changes that took place during or after the war. The two battles that will be discussed in this paper is the battle of Stalingrad and the attack on Pearl Harbor. These battles were only two of the many important battles that took place during World War II. The battle of Stalingrad took place in the city of Stalingrad and occurred on July 17th 1942 and lasted until February 2nd 1943. The important leaders associated with this battle are General Friedrich Paulus from the German army as well as General Georgy Zhukov from the Soviet Union army. On August 25th 1942 Stalingrad was officially under siege by the Germans Army. September 3rd 1942 Germans enact an offensive aimed at the heart of Stalingrad. After this battle with Russia “the Germany Army was in full retreat.” This battle might have turned out differently if Germany wasn’t so weak and hadn’t lost most of its power because of Russia. During the battle “400,000 Germans, 200,000 Romanians, 130,000 Italians, and 120,000 Hungarians were killed, wounded or captured.” The next battle that this paper will discuss is the attack on Pearl Harbor. The attack on Pearl Harbor took place on December 7th 1941. The important leaders during this battle included Husband Kimmel and Walter Short on the United States side. It also included Chuichi Nagumo and Isoroku Yamamoto on the Japanese side.
