I will never forget the moment I got introduced to baseball. I was 6 years old when I told my mom I wanted to play baseball. We were at my Grandmother’s house for dinner, I was in the backyard throwing a baseball with my cousin. As I was throwing the ball my uncle noticed I had a pretty strong arm. My uncle said ‘’You need to be on a baseball team with that strong arm’’. I kept throwing with my cousin until it was time to eat about 20 minutes later. When we left and went home, I told my mom what my uncle said and I asked her to sign me up for baseball at a local park called Polo Road Park. The next day, my mom and I went to the park and she signed me up to play. After we left Polo Park, we went to DIck’s Sporting Goods and got me a Glove, Bat, Batting gloves, pants and Hat. My mom told me practice was coming up and I need to be working hard to be ready for practice. A week later, I had my first practice, I was the best player on the team. …show more content…
A week later, everyone knew who I was and noticed I was the best player on my team. As the season progressed,my team made playoffs and we played in the championship. Unfortunately, my team didn’t win but we had a great season. After the game a man went up to my mom and asked if ‘’DaDa’’ was her child. My mom said ‘’yes” and he had a conversation with her and asked if I could play travel ball with his team. Of course my mom said yes and when she told me, I was so excited to be traveling playing baseball. I went home and screamed so loud when got in my
when I was ten years old I lost my grandpa, it was a very bad experience for me but it made me stronger. I remember when he taught me how to catch a baseball, ride a bike, mow the lawn and a lot of other things that I will forever cherish in my heart. the memory I will never forget though is when he taught me everything I needed to know about baseball. we would always go outside together and he would do certain agilities with me to build my stamina, teach me how to catch a pop-fly and he would work on pitching with me which is actually one of my main position that I play today. baseball was a big part of my grandpas life and he always wanted me to play In the major leagues. once he passed away my motives for playing in the major leagues increased.
From the time I first saw the game of baseball I fell in love. Even the first word I ever said was “ball”. I have baby pictures in my baseball uniform and whenever a baseball game would be on TV, I would act like I was playing there with them. So at an early age I knew I wanted to play baseball. Luckily, my dad was also very big into baseball and helped me almost every day. Some of my best memories came when we would practice baseball in the front yard, or even go to the local (missing word) and take batting practice.
I love baseball. I love to play baseball and read baseball comics. I have read a lot of Japanese baseball comics, and almost all Japanese baseball comics’ heroes were fastball pitchers. This comic’s hero was a typical typed pitcher in Japanese baseball comics. He could throw the fastest fastball in his team, and became the ace pitcher of his team when he was a freshman.
As a kid, I was born and raised to love the great game of baseball. Many young kids have had dreams to become professional athletes, and achieve prestigious awards/ titles. Like many kids I’ve always dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player. As a younger kid with my head in the clouds, I never really knew what it was like to put my actual blood, sweat, and tears into something I loved, until my worst season I had ever played. This whole story starts in the beginning of my ninth grade baseball season. It started out different from every other year because, of course I was a freshman. This was the first year I had ever practiced with the varsity squad, it was much more difficult, but I still figured I was going to do great. After weeks
My family and I decided that we would go to Texas for our vacation that year. My dad did not tell me that he had purchased some Texas Ranger baseball tickets for us. When we arrived at our hotel the first words to come out of my dad’s mouth was “Get your baseball glove ready were going to the new baseball field to watch the Texas Rangers play the Detroit Lions.” As soon as I heard that, I was the most satisfied kid on the planet. I knew that this would be my first big league game and I would remember it forever.
Growing up, I have always had a passion for baseball. To me, it is much more than just a sport. There have been times when it has acted as an escape from many problems in my life, as I feel that when I am on the diamond, nothing can hurt me. I am aware that many people feel this way about the sport they love, but sadly their careers often come to an abrupt end due to injury. I have a personal connection to this experience. The summer before my fourth grade year I was attending a basketball camp at Davidson College, when in the final seconds of a scrimmage game, my ankle was kicked out from under me. I immediately fell to the ground in pain as my ankle rolled over on itself. Coaches aided me in limping off of the court and to the training room
As soon as I started high school, my goal was to play college baseball. I played baseball for a very competitive select club that traveled out of town every week from Thursday through Sun as well as practicing every Tuesday and Wednesday. All through high school, I sacrificed my free time in the summer to prepare myself for college baseball. After receiving offers from four year universities as well as junior colleges, I decided that a junior college would provide me the best opportunity to continue to develop as a player. Even though I decided I wanted to play at a junior college, I wanted the experience of going away to college and living in a dorm so I decided to attend a junior college in Iowa where they had dorms for student athletes. Being ecstatic to be able to go off to college and play baseball was short lived. During the first month of baseball practice, I injured my arm, spent two months in physical therapy with no improvement, and then finally receiving the bad news that I would need surgery to improve. Surgery was performed over Thanksgiving break, but I was now faced with months of physical therapy, which meant
Claim: I began baseball when I was 4 years old in little league where all the players parent and coach were with them along the way telling us what to do. And as i got older and more independent i started to know more and more of what as was doing.
I started playing baseball right after I moved to Virginia, coming from California. At first I wasn’t that good, because I was only six years old at that time, but it was okay, because the other six-year old were not much better than me. It was the first time I was to play a sport, and it turned out to be my only sport later in
“We’re here,” my dad says and I know i’m in for the week of my life. It’s july 4th and we get to play baseball. We have finally arrived in cooperstown New York for a week long tournament. You play 6 pool play games then come the playoffs. You don’t sleep in a hotel though you stay with your team in cabins. Pool play started the next day. Our team was pumped for this tournament and in pool play we ended up 5-1. That put us in 5th overall of 106 teams. Then came the playoffs. In the playoffs we made it to the semis. We played the best team, they’re from California. We ended up losing 5-2 so we went to the 3rd vs 4th game. The team and I, won that game 1-0. It felt good to come all the way from New Jersey and take 3rd out of 106 teams. We ended
All throughout high school I played on the softball team. Proceeding the season before where we went undefeated with a district championship, my senior year we were supposed to be unstoppable. We received a few new players to add on to our army and the entire school was counting on our run to state. I was so excited to have an amazing end to my high school softball career, but unfortunately my dream was cut short when we lost in the first round of districts. I did not know that loss would change me the way it did.
When I was a sophomore in high school I played softball it was my life I started playing when I was 6 when I started playing first I started out with baseball but when I got a little older my mom decided it would be best for me to play softball because the boys played a little more rough than girls did and she thought it would be a good experience because I only knew how to play around boys because at one point I was the only girl on the baseball team. So when I was 9 my mom put me in softball to be safer so I didn 't get hurt. I ended up falling in love with the game and how supportive all the friends I made were I remember going to practice 2-3 times a week and working my butt off then going to my weekend tournaments where my mom nana and little cousins would cheer me on at every game whether it was in Huntington beach or Los Alamitos they were there to support me we would go days where I had 3 or 4 games in one weekend and even 3 games in one day one time and they always went because I always had a smile on and off the field no matter what happened. When I was a sophomore in high school I had to stop playing do to getting injuries. My body was wearing down and it was getting harder to throw and run so in the beginning of my sophomore year quit for my health. It felt like a huge piece of me was ripped away because I worked so hard to become the player I once was and I could
One of the earliest memories I have of my father is when he would take me to the park and we would play baseball. My father was eager to teach me everything he knew about the game, and I was eager to learn. He took it easy on me at first, allowing me to overcome my fear of being hit by the ball. Each time we went back to the park he would throw the ball a little harder. It was not long before I could catch almost anything he threw at me. My father also used his knowledge of the game to teach me to hit a baseball. Eventually, I was skilled enough to play any position on a baseball team.
It was a hot, sunny day, and my brother who was a great baseball player wanted me to come with him and his friend to the baseball diamond. I just thought he was just taking me so I could watch him hit baseballs and throw the ball around. Then he pulled my baseball
At the age of ten, I found my self playing basketball every afternoon with my friends in my neighborhood on a street field, which we drew the lines on. I was the best player and everybody wanted me to play with their team. I just couldn't stand losing and I was giving my best to win every game I was playing. All of my friends were telling me to go and play for a team. I was just saying that I was not ready for a team yet and I needed a lot of work before that, but nobody knew the true reason. I was ashamed to tell to them that my dad didn't want me to go and play for a team just because his mind was always on the school and the books. "Basketball is not for you my son" he was always saying when I was begging him to let me go,"your...
